<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>When O'Neal was done speaking to the media mass, I went over and asked him if I had heard what I thought I heard. Did he really say he'd take Stoudemire over Garnett, especially after Garnett had put a Ziploc bag on Stoudemire in the second half? We know that one of Shaq's missions in Phoenix is to bump up Stoudemire, but this seemed to be a bit far-fetched. "They've got the same numbers," O'Neal said. "Yeah, I would." For MVP? This year? "Yeah." But Garnett is anchoring the best defensive team in the NBA and has totally transformed the Celtics. "Garnett doesn't play defense," Shaq said. After that, what was there to say? What games have you been watching this season? Garnett doesn't play defense?</div> I'd expect Shaq to mention Amare, because of course every teammate Shaq is currently playing with is the "best" at whatever they do. But Kevin Garnett doesn't play defense? I'd say he's the very best defensive player in the entire league. I don't know what's funnier: the fact that he said the best defensive player in the NBA doesn't defend, or that he talked about defense then praised Amare Stoudemire? Shaq is a complete idiot and I'm baffled beyond belief at this interview and his comments.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Did he really say he'd take Stoudemire over Garnett, especially after Garnett had put a Ziploc bag on Stoudemire in the second half?</div> Garnett didn't have "a Ziploc bag on Stoudamire". I watched the whole game. It was a team defense effort. Furthermore, Garnett promotes team defense. So Shaq's quote was dumb as hell. I'd also like to include that I wouldn't count neither of these guys as MVP's. Maybe Garnett at 3rd or 4th. Personally, I'd give the MVP to whoever has the better record between the Hornets and Lakers. No one has had to basically carry their team the way Paul and Kobe have. Lebron comes close, but hasn't been nearly as successful.
