was at the game today--the last game EVER at Al Lang field. Sat behind home plate in the first row for the last four innings, if anyone was watching. Sad to see it go--that park has such a great location, overlooking the marina and the bay. Great history, too. BTW, Garza looks very good. Don't think anyone hit the ball hard against him. also: --Carlos Pena hit a screaming liner off the wall. It was a single. Either he thought it was a HR or he is pretty damn slow. --BJ Upton struck out looking with the bases loaded and no one out. I think it was a 1-2 pitch. Pathetic. --Percival showed nothing in the ninth and got lit up. --Dan Wheeler also got lit up during his inning.
Too bad they couldn't play the Cardinals or Braves in the last game there, as they were the two other teams to use that stadium before the Rays came around. Sounds like you had a good time, Dumpy. I hope you got your free poster and hot dog.
we got there too late to get the poster :-( at one point, my five-year-old yelled out, "Hi, Coach!" Manager Joe Madden--who was about five feet away--answered "Hi, honey." He seems pretty nice. It was her first game. She was pretty intrigued my the mascot and at some point she got kissed by him. I think that's what she'll remember--that and getting to run around the bases after the game.
But at least the new stadium is going up there. It should be one of the coolest stadiums in the mlb when its finished.
