Which ones do you agree with which ones not? 1. No more forceout rule, I agree with this one: I always thought the force-out rule was silly. 2. Include field goal reviews in replays: I'm just meh on this one. 3. Option to defer after winning coin toss added: I don't really understand what that means. 4. Eliminate 5-yard facemask penalty: agreed. 5. Expand offseason roster limit: yes. 6. Only the top 2 division champions are guaranteed a playoff spot, otherwise they go to the teams with the best record: no, it's silly. 7. Include a one-way coach-to-defense speaker in one defenders helmet at a time: Yeah, I like that one. 8. Moratorium before free agency, teams are only allowed to speak to the agents: This one just confuzzles me. 9. Confidentiality to anyone who wants to report cheating: Yep, good idea. This is where I got it from http://www.packers.com/news/stories/2008/03/26/2/ What do you think?
I like all the ideas I suppose, I didn't see anything egregious anyway. Some divisions are indeed weak and shouldn't be guaranteed a shot at the playoffs imo.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (GMJigga @ Mar 29 2008, 03:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I wonder if the entire NFC East could make the playoffs then?</div> I don't see what's wrong with getting the best teams in the post-season despite being all stacked in one area of the country.
1. No more forceout rule. - Hate this idea. Do you want to eliminate sideline catches? 2. Include field goal reviews in replays: - They should get redid of instant replay anyway 3. Option to defer after winning coin toss added: - No need for this. 4. Eliminate 5-yard facemask penalty: - No need, dont grab facemasks and it goes away 5. Expand offseason roster limit: - I like this one 6. Only the top 2 division champions are guaranteed a playoff spot, otherwise they go to the teams with the best record: - if you play 6 games vs division, then you dont play same schedule as teams in other division. Since it isnt a balanced schedule, winning division means something, so i am opposed to this as well. 7. Include a one-way coach-to-defense speaker in one defenders helmet at a time: - Let the players play. Get rid of coach to qb speaker. 8. Moratorium before free agency, teams are only allowed to speak to the agents: - wouldnt stop the niners from cheating, i dont like it. 9. Confidentiality to anyone who wants to report cheating: - if you see an injustice be a man and stand up and announce it. No need to hide in shadows for pointing out that the patriots are cheaters

The players' hair isn't allowed to block the view of their name/ number on the back of their shirt: lol, thats silly, numbers I can see a point, but name?
1. No more forceout rule. - This is called twice a season. I'd rather they just enforce it. Too bad the refs are all 90 and incapable of making simple judgment calls. How about switching to one foot inbounds if this is scrapped? College football is doing just fine with that rule. 2. Include field goal reviews in replays: - This is obvious and very necessary. They should just use lasers for this like tennis does. 3. Option to defer after winning coin toss added: - This is a great change. If you win the toss, you should be able to choose whatever you want in the second half. 4. Eliminate 5-yard facemask penalty: - There's nothing wrong with the current rule. If the refs can't make judgement calls, get younger, full-time refs. 5. Expand offseason roster limit: - Sure. More competition. More guys get a shot. Hoarding isn't an issue in the NFL. 6. Only the top 2 division champions are guaranteed a playoff spot, otherwise they go to the teams with the best record: - No sale. Divisions still mean something in the NFL. You play every other team twice. If you win your division, you deserve to go to the playoffs. Period. It's stupid for them to even bring this up. 7. Include a one-way coach-to-defense speaker in one defenders helmet at a time: - If the offense gets it, the defense gets it, too. 8. Moratorium before free agency, teams are only allowed to speak to the agents: - Who do they speak to now? What if a player is his own agent? 9. Confidentiality to anyone who wants to report cheating: - What's the burden of proof here? Seems like a great way to sabotage an innocent party to me. Let the NFL pay to investigate cheating themselves. What? Are they too poor? Give me a break.

The entire division format is pointless.
No! I don't want a balanced schedule. The NFL is the last sport with bitter rivalries. That's too important to mess with.

I think the defensive captain being able to communicate with the coach through a headset will get approved especially with the Spygate and the worry of stealing signs. they tryed last year to get it done, but it was too new for owners.

I guess that is why they would want to be anonymous, so that some retard wont go back at them and say something stupid like "You think everyone is a cheater"
Incase you forgot I don't know you, how am I supposed to know every single person you have called a cheat. Anyway everyone is a figure of speech. And what is this Strahan thing you accuse Favre of?
RE: 3. Option to defer after winning coin toss added: - This is a great change. If you win the toss, you should be able to choose whatever you want in the second half. I don't think that's what the rule is about. If you want the ball in the 2nd half, all you have to do is say you want to kick off in the first half. BUT...if you defer the choice of kick or receive to the other team, then you get to choose which goal you want to defend. I could see this choice mattering in severe weather if the wind is a factor. Then again, maybe I'm completely missing the point of the rule.
Hah hah Tonight on ESPN, John Clayton was talking about what the owners discussed at the meeting. He got to the topic of long hair and how it covers the players name on the jersey. While he is explaining this, his combover is getting blown over by wind, and almost touching his collar.
1. No more forceout rule. Ive always thought the forceout rule was stupid, either you come down in bounds or you dont, if you get hit and you cant complete the catch, thats the breaks....expect very few complete catches near the boundry though....all the sudden, a QBs ability to throw the deep out doesnt mean a whole lot 2. Include field goal reviews in replays Duh.... 3. Option to defer after winning coin toss added This changes nothing. You can already dictate the who gets the ball in BOTH halfs OR who gets the wind in every quarter when you win the toss.... 4. Eliminate 5-yard facemask penalty I'd like a clarification on this one....does this eliminate the 5 yard penalty and make all face mask contact a 15 yarder or is no longer illegal to touch the face mask? If facemask contact, without grasping, is now legal, I like this rule. RBs have had this right for years. 5. Expand offseason roster limit I don't see a lot of advantages to adding a couple of more grocery baggers to the roster in the offseason, except it will help those guys impress girls. 6. Only the top 2 division champions are guaranteed a playoff spot, otherwise they go to the teams with the best record This is stupid. If you win your division, you should go to the playoffs. 7. Include a one-way coach-to-defense speaker in one defenders helmet at a time. Logistically, this is a nightmare, but I dont have a problem with in on a fundemental level. 8. Moratorium before free agency, teams are only allowed to speak to the agents. Dumb. You should be able to talk to your own players, and you already cant talk to other teams players. BTW, no one reps themselves in the NFL, you have to be a certified agent and no player qualifies. 9. Confidentiality to anyone who wants to report cheating. You need an official policy for this? Descretion is not that hard.
The coach to d has passed and Beef, it would eliminate the 5-yard penalty meaning contact without grasping would be legal.
1. No more forceout rule. I disagree; if you're forced out of bounds by the defender it could have been a legitimate catch. Here's how it is from the NFL Rulebook: "A pass is completed or intercepted, or a loose ball recovered, if the player inbounds would have landed inbounds with both feet but is carried or pushed out-of-bounds while in possession of the ball in the air or before the second foot touches the ball inbounds by an opponent. The player must maintain possession of the ball when he lands out-of-bounds." That said, I think it's a fine rule. It will create more exciting plays and while there will be more controversial plays in the sense, "he was forced out / not forced out," or, "he was out of bounds. period," it's not a big deal. Defenses aren't being penalized if the receiver catches it while being forced out -- it's just as much a rule as the pass interference rule in the sense that you can't make a lot of contact with the receiver unless you're going for / looking at the ball. Ignorance to a rule or portraying the rule as insignificant is no exception. 2. Include field goal reviews in replays I don't really care. 3. Option to defer after winning coin toss added lolque. It doesn't really matter if I understand this correctly. 4. Eliminate 5-yard facemask penalty This depends; a 5-yard face-mask is still a face-mask and eliminating it so that they're non-existent is not a good idea in my opinion. However, if this makes all face-masks 15 yard penalties it's still not a good idea. So no -- I disagree with this. 5. Expand offseason roster limit Sure. 6. Only the top 2 division champions are guaranteed a playoff spot, otherwise they go to the teams with the best record Only the top 2 division leaders of each conference are guaranteed a playoff spot? Otherwise best record? Why? Generally, the division leaders are the teams with the best record. I mean, I understand in theory that a team can be better than another team record-wise, but be in a tough division, and then they get boned but the current system is fine. There are wild cards. 7. Include a one-way coach-to-defense speaker in one defenders helmet at a time It depends on how limited it is, but I like the idea in general. 8. Moratorium before free agency, teams are only allowed to speak to the agents No. 9. Confidentiality to anyone who wants to report cheating Definitely.
