<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>Critics of the Nets’ new arena say they will be out in force Thursday night when the Brooklyn Museum honors Nets’ owner Bruce Ratner. Ratner who has given generously to the museum over the years is being awarded the Augustus Graham Medal for his “longstanding support of this museum and art and cultural institutions. Kanye West will be the featured artist at the accompanying gala. Critics contend Ratner is not a “good neighbor”.</div> Atlantic Yards foes rage at Brooklyn Museum over Bruce Ratner honor - Rachel Monahan & Jotham Sederstrom - New York Daily News Haha, funny. I wonder if anyone likes Ratner.
This is kinda bullshit. I mean if you want to protest the eminent domain, fine. Protesting a valid cause is a stretch, though. This is a valid recognition of Ratner and to disrupt a valid cause is illogical sensationalism.
SOOO this award has nothing to do with what hes doing with the nets... and protesters are hating on him... so hes not deserving of all the other good deeds he has done? heh, i dont think hes a bad guy even though heh didnt resign martin but hey that turned into VC dont judge him cuz of the new arena... hes doing what he feels is best for the franchise hope he opens his check book for free agents!
These people treat him like he was a war criminal rather than a socially conscious builder who rescued Brooklyn. He built the first office tower in Brooklyn in more than 20 years, then built Metro Tech. Some of these people wouldnt have home values as high as they have withouth the resurgence of Brooklyn and the resurgence of Brooklyn was started by Ratner. Those are facts.
Like it matters, the arena's probably going to get built. And for someone who seems to be so critical of the Bush Administration, who accused the Reagan Administration of placing crack cocaine in inner-cities across this country, I find it quite funny Kanye West of all people is peforming at a function honoring someone criticized for displacing citizens out of their homes.
