<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Well-respected Raptors assistant general manager Maurizio Gherardini has been linked to the vacant GM post in Milwaukee.

With the free-falling Bucks looking to replace the recently deposed Larry Harris, it has been speculated that Gherardini will be in line for an interview.

Known for his contacts and long-standing associations with European-based clubs and basketball officials, Gherardini was recruited to Toronto by president/general manager Bryan Colangelo.

The tandem used the first overall pick in 2006 to select Andrea Bargnani, whom Gherardini has known for years.

Gherardini has also been influential in the Raptors signing Anthony Parker, who played in Israel, Spaniard Jorge Garbajosa and the trade for Slovenian Rasho Nesterovic from San Antonio.

    WANTED MAN?

From the moment he arrived in Toronto, many basketball insiders have felt Gherardini one day would run an NBA club.

Milwaukee, at least from afar, seems an odd match given Gherardini's preference for international culture.

Money does strange things to some and if the Bucks are willing to dole out much euros, perhaps anything is possible.</div>

Why would Gherardini want to leave Toronto to go to Milwaukee?? Anyways I say he should at least stay one more year with the Raptors and then let leave to become a GM of an NBA if he wishes.

Milwaukee will hire a fall guy like Rob Babcock to come in and make all the tough choices like cutting salary and trading good players like Mike Redd or Andrew Bogut for cap relief and picks. Then in a year or two they will hire somebody with a proven track record to replace him and use the money and youth he has acquired to get the team back on track. I don't see Maury being a part of the first step.

He'll eventually leave for a head GM job, I've been resigned to that fact since he came here. But he can get a much better job than the Bucks one. I wouldn't want to have to deal with that owner or that situation, honestly.
