<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"I like this team," Ryan Gomes tells HOOPSWORLD. "It's a nice, young team and we've been making strides the past two months. It'll be good to have a bunch of us here to see how this thing can play out two or three years from now. We have to take it in stride and take it day by day. You can't worry about tomorrow too much because you have to perform for today and that's how I'm trying to do it right here, right now and I think that's what we're all trying to do."</div> Source The rest of the article is a pretty decent read too. Gomes gives out much better interviews than 90% of professional athletes. As for his future with Minnesota, I think they'll work hard to re-sign him this summer unless they win the lottery. If they end up with Beasley, I don't think Gomes would really have a spot on the team, especially if they are sold on justifying the Brewer pick. If they don't win the lottery though, I think there is a very good chance Gomes is signed for a good 3 years and returns as Minnesota's starting 3 next season (assuming they bring in a valid 5. Brook Lopez would be nice).
I think regardless of whether they get Beasly or not, they will work hard to re-sign Gomes. He seems to be the glue of this team off the court, and that is hard to come by for someone at that young of an age.
Man, I hope they keep Gomes. It's not like we can't afford to keep a great glue guy like him around. Even with Beasley we could run a small athletic line with AL ©, Gomes (PF) and "Beast"ly (SF). Brewer can still be that energy off the bench until he puts on enough weight to contribute with more minute without being pushed around. Now Minny needs to revisit the rumor mill on possibly trading McCants for TJ Ford. If we fall out of the top two picks we should get Brook Lopez, trade for Ford and try to move up for another lottery pick and get Gordon or Bayless. And even if the using our two 1st rounders to move up doesn't tickle your fancy, there is always a chance Brandon Rush could fall to us at the first pick of the second round
