I had a weird idea pop in my head today. What would you guys think about an RJ for Shawn Marion type of move? He can opt out and the end of this season so Its probably not doable but It seemed to make sense to me in the middle of the night last night. With Devin pushing tempo and hoping VC plays like this all year next year, Marion would fit pretty darn well. Runs the floor, rebounds really well, get his points in the flow and off Offensive rebounds. Can guard the other teams top scorer. I don't know? What do you guys think? I like RJ, but even with the scoring he has put up this year he seems less and less valuable to me. He has stopped Defending and rebounding, and the mental mistakes and turnovers he is making are unbelievable. Devin VC Marion Kristic Boone Pretty good. Wish there was a guy like Al Horford we could draft. Thats all we need, a Boozer type of PF.
I like the idea of Marion. Very good defender Well expirienced Can shoot the 3 Runs.... However, how would this ever happen...? sign and trade? ...dont think so. I dont like the idea of Jefferson having a shoot first mentality.. he is not attacking and swinging the ball.. thts why i have always been talking about getting a "Prince" type player.. shawn is even better.. any other similar type players in mind?
Yeah I guess sign and trade? Probably can't happen. It does make sense to me though. You are right about RJ. He does not make the extra pass, just jacks it up. It drives me crazy when he starts the game knocking down jumper(like last night), because he's just gonna start missing them later(also like last night). The D really kills me though. He used to be good. He would stick Lebron well etc. Now it seems he can't guard anyone.
It can be done easily. Marion wants security. Nets offer him a Carter like contract: less money in the first year with long term contract. Carter was supposed to make $16.4 million this year. He took a pay cut of $3.4 million but got a long term deal with $66 million guaranteed over four years. The question do you want to do it. Marion, who I always thought of as the league's most underrated superstar, is also a whiner, the exact opposite of RJ.

Seems the suns tired of him in the locker room.
Obviously Marion is the better player. But I expect Jefferson will be back next season. The Nets need to add serious depth at the wing this offseason, then cut down Jefferson's minutes and make him the third or fourth option on offense. Jefferson can be efficient on offense when he's scoring in the flow of the game off other peoples playmaking. And if he's playing only 30 minutes per game, he'll have the energy to play both ends of the floor.

not interested. a couple of years ago? hell yes but now, he wont help us much, will we be better? yea, but not good enough
definitely a better fit than RJ with the team we have right now but even if it wasn't a pipe dream and did happen we would still be missing what this team needs at this moment, a sg/sf who can shoot.
First of all Marion> RJ no doubts there. But the problem i see is how much $$ will he want? we dont want to overpay him.
wow wait... i love marion but y would the trade take RJ contract if marion opts out in a S&T? RJ wouldnt really help wade as much... i doubt riley pulls this... but the thought of it makes me smile... imagine harris running down and marion goin for his alley... on a side note RJ's perimeter jumpshot is better than marion... im sorry... marion is a better rebounder, defender, and transition guy...
Honestly Marion is the kind of player you bring in as a final piece of the puzzle...not a as starting piece... We're somewhere between rebuilding and reloading... meaning Marion shouldn't even be on our radar. RJ and Carter should only be traded to get younger or at the very least MUCH BETTER. Would Marion be better than RJ? Maybe but realistically it'd be close...meaning we'd be older and still far from championship caliber.
Trade RJ for a youngin. We don't need another 30 year old wing player that won't get us anywhere. Try to pry a young wing from Atlanta, Charlotte, Portland, somewhere. And Try to get rid of RJ.

It's a very simple formula...
