I don't know if he's overrated, but he's definitely overpaid. If you figure the top tier SFs are LBJ, Carmelo, TMac and Pierce, then RJ is in the next tier with Butler, Maggette, Iguodala, Josh Howard, Turkoglu, Gerald Wallace, Deng and Artest. Is he clearly better than half those guys? He makes more than every one of them, by a lot.

I agree with NI that he's not the problem, and I'm happy to have him, but his salary definitely adds to the impression that he's overrated.

I agree with this. He is overpaid. If he made $8-9mm per season I don't think anyone would be thinking he's overrated.

He just didn't develop in the way everyone expected him to.
In his early (Finals) years he was an excellent slasher and good defender.
Then he turned into a good defender and a decent all around player.
Then he started working on his shot to compliment VC.
Now he forgot about almost everything besides shooting.

Maybe it's not that he forgot. He's also being asked to play on the wing a lot more. They kind of messed it up though in my opinion. They should asked him to GUARD the wing but still play inside, while on occasion being a spot up shooter.

Ever since 01-02 I've found myself wishing he tried to improve his handle a bit. His dribble looks very forced. He often coughs up the ball or stagnates the offense by messing up with the ball.

Maybe he can do some Rocky style training while dribbling a basketball for a couple of weeks? [IMG]

Not pointing out on stats alone, I do think RJ is overrated. Put RJ on a different situation, say with a contender, he would be a 2nd option at best. The guy isn't really a great shooter, or even a good 1-on-1 player. A lot of his game is forced. On a positive note, RJ has utilized his physical gifts well to compensate for his basketball skills.

More like 3rd option, or maybe even 4th.

3rd option at best, 4th at worst. Most teams he'd be 3rd option, a few teams (such as the Suns, Magic, Bulls, etc.) he'd be 4th option.
