<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>Lawrence Frank had an optional practice Monday. Players could shoot around, get treatment for nagging injuries, work on individual skills. Despite the team’s poor prospects, all but two showed up. Particularly impressive to the coach and GM were free agent Boki Nachbar who could have shut it down weeks ago with a bad back along with the more recently wounded Josh Boone and Gana Diop.</div>

[IMG] Nachbar may gain through pain - David Waldstein - Star-Ledger
[IMG] It's Net Over - Brett Cyrgalis - New York Post
[IMG] The end is fast approaching - Al Iannazzone - YES Network
[IMG] Game Time Blog: The Final Five - Matt McQueeny - New Jersey Nets

Is this saying something about our chemistry? Because if so, we've already taken a huge leap from where we were at the beginning of the season, based on chemistry and different/improved player personnel.

I could really care less if Boki shuts it down or not, at this point. Although, I am surprised (FA to be) Diop did show up. To me, it speaks volumes.

But...I wonder who the two were that didn't show up. Two of Carter/Marcus/Sean/Jefferson? [IMG]

KVH is one. Hopefully neither of the Williamses were the other.

I don't think they count KVH... they never even whisper his name.

Didn't mean he was lazy... figured he would take the day because he feels he isn't being used anyway. So sensitive.

In one of the reports, it said Carter showed up to get treatment on his ankle and do some shooting, so he wasn't one of the no-shows.

Well there goes my wishful thinking. Frank should've just made the practice mandatory. They're gonna have spring off anyway.

Well, it's just because Swift doesn't need to practice [IMG]

He's dunked on Yao before, therefore no practice.

You can't make the practice optional then have it reflect negatively on those who do not attend.

    I didn't make them optional!

I agree. I'm just curious which 2 players decided they didn't need to come in and get some work.

Lol sorry, didn't mean to quote you [IMG]

I don't think that is the 'justification' that the players had - that they didn't need to come in and get some work. In fact, there should not be any justification at all.

Some of these guys are probably burned out from basketball. And I agree with those who say "you get paid $xM, and all you gotta do is play the game." But if they are given a real chance to just stay home and relax, I say take it.

Hell, if I was a coach I would have said that the practice is not optional, I would have cancelled it.
The guys who wanted to play could probably have made an appointment with the coach or goto a gym.

When you are a week away from having a 5+ month vacation you don't need to take the day. You want to hang out with your teammates and improve your game.

I think it was a great idea and I would venture to guess that Thorn and Kiki were taking notes. Wouldn't be surprised if it was their idea in order to evaluate player work ethics.

If veteran players like Armstrong, Carter or RJ or injured players like Boone or Boki don't show up I think they forgive that, but if Marcus, Sean, Maurice, or Krstic don't show it will raise eyebrows.
