Finally, the Nets are eliminated. What was the problem?
Well, many of you have raised several different reasons, e.g. Kidd, Carter injury....
But, most of you have raised this same reason- The team was badly constructed.

The Nets are not going to blow up their roster, therefore:

Who has the possibility to land as a Net (meaning the possibility is worth considering), and what position needs an upgrade? e.g Shooters, coach.

*Try to keep the layout simple. So it would be easy to read.

    Personally:

I dont want the Nets to sign Boki, Nenad.

    Wing/Perimeter Defender:

Marion Jefferson for Marion. Not really possible, but its a solid idea.
Artest heard he wants out, work out a deal around MWill, Jefferson for Salmons/Artest
Dooling Free Agent Labled as a solid perimeter defender, and a decent shooter/slasher
Evans Free Agent Big defender who can size up bigger offensive players e.g Pierce
Ryan Gomes Free Agent Not really a strong Defender, but very solid offensively
Royal Ivey Free Agent Tough gaurd, not really solid offensively
James Posey Free Agent Very good gaurd, can shoot the 3.
Matt Barnes Free Agent Very solid.

Big who can Score and Gaurd other bigs:

Brand Everybody is talking about Brand as a Net.
    Wilcox Prob my favourite choice.
Yi A trade that was proposed by Lurk. SWill for Yi.
Elson Free Agent Give him a chance?

    Shooters:

    House Free Agent Him again.
Webster Portland has too many developing stars, they also need an upgrade at the 1,3.
Redick Heard Orlando wants to let him go, his Agent wants him out.
Quentin Richardson Uh... maybe? The knicks would take in anything ...
    Vujacic Free Agent
    kareem Rush Free Agent
Mike Miller Memphis might trade him.
Pietrus He wants out, solid defender and shooter
Ben Gordon Free Agent Keep in mind he wants MAX money. dont wana overpay.

We definitely need a dominant big that Frank can trust and create for us. I'd say the key target should be Brand, and we should try hard to get him. Even tho i know everyone doesn't like jermaine o'neal, i wouldn't mind targetting him second if brand is untouchable. I just believe that we were always lacking that inside presence in the middle to draw double teams, score, and grab rebounds. Someone who can do this on a daily basis would improve our consistancy, because that is something we are really lacking. Some nights we play well others we play so horrible that i have to pop some ibuprofen after the game from getting a migraine. After that we definitely need shooters. adding a defensive minded 2 guard to guard the perimeter would be the ideal choice. Someone like chris douglas roberts who can knock down jumpshots consistantly and has the tenacity to defend outside the 3 point line. I also think we need a better backup pg. Marcus williams has been nothing but dissapointing to me.

So I agree with Brand for our bigs who can defend bigs. Runner up is Jermaine oneal. i liked the idea of wilcox, but he in my mind is someone that is kinda inconsistant as well. Yi i don't think can guard other bigs and reminds me of a boki nachbar type of player.

Next is shooters... so im all for someone like redick, house is going to re-sign with boston. Everyone from boston in my mind is going to resign unless boston drops them. but my ideal choice is CDR, if we don't have a extra pick via trade or something... i'd go with courtney lee.

Keyon dooling is a point guard that can pick up offensively after harris sits. I want anyone that can play defense because our defense at the guard spots are pretty bad. This is also in part due to our bigs not being able to defend other bigs so our guard ending up having to double team them. Once this happens the ball gets kicked out to 3 pt land and thats why other teams kills us with the perimeter shooting.

My ideal starting lineup when the next season starts would look something like this...
    PG: Harris
    SG: CDR
SF: Carter(when we had him at SF when he first came to the nets while RJ was injured, i thought he played better at this spot)
PF: Brand(trade using marcus williams, rj and the dallas first rounder)
    C: Boone

Yi for for Swill is a ''big ass'' upgrade, but the Bucks would never do that.

We're not winning a championship anytime soon, so based on the personnel we have I'd rather have Sean

A few weeks ago, Dave D'Alessandro suggested the Nets do this:

Looking forward, the unrestricteds I'd consider from this year's market - if they don't draft a backup 2 - would be Keyon Dooling, Fred Jones and Jarvis Hayes. Bigger picture move, especially if Boki gets away, and you need more of a long-range 2: Throw a bundle at Sasha Vujacic (restricted) and test the Lakers' commitment to him

I just read one of the articles on the course of action that thorn is going to take and the writer writes that we can get andrei kirilenko and paul millsap for RJ. This was interesting because I think millsap has a lot of potential and toughness in him that we desperately need. millsap reminds me of david west and jason maxiell. And kirilenko is looking for a bigger role elsewhere, and he certainly can be a leader here as he did for his russian national team. He is a vocal guy that shows passion for the game. He also fits in well with devin harris as he could run prolly not as well but nevertheless run as RJ did. He also shows toughness around the basket on defense.

for the draft i'd take CDR as our first pick for his shooting and defense, and then with the dallas pick get hansborough for his energy and hustle, or speights who i hear has a lot of potential and has the size that thorn likes, or joe alexander for his athleticism if boki leaves. For our second pick i'd go probably with a point guard or pekovic.

We just have too many young bigs that require playing time which we can't give. Thats why i'd rather prefer trading a couple of them for more top tier proven players and our lineup is pretty maxed out at 15. We cannot use all 3 draft picks and hope to re-sign nachbar / krstic and diop as thorn said he'd like to re-sign each one of them over the past couple of weeks. Someone will get the short end of the straw or actually get offered more money. Im still hoping for brand, but imo the clippers would wanna keep him. So this may be the next best thing.

as far as free agents are concerned I wouldn't mind signing dooling.

Im taking that we resign nachbar / krstic and my guess is that diop is gonna be signed elsewhere for more money than we'd like to give. We have the following lineup:

    Harris / Dooling / Mwill
    Carter / CDR / ager
    Kirilenko / boki / hassell
Millsap / krstic / hansborough or speights
boone / swill / swift keep pekovic international for another year lol.

I really like your plan. Alot of things you suggested, I have already thought about in my head. like trading RJ, Dallas' pick and MWill for Brand. I think it will be tough to get Brand with a package based on RJ because they already have Corey. Anyway, The only thing I don't agree with is starting Boone. I would rather resign Diop and have Boone come off the bench. I do like the idea of CDR and Speights (not feeling Hansborough though).

The tenth pick may be too high to take a guy like CDR though. We may HAVE to take a guy like Jordan or Randolph. I would take Jordan and Clark and with the 2nd rd pick take DJ White.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. The nets NEED to rebuild. They already made a great move by getting Devin Harris and another pick. They need to try and trade their lower second rounder and either, VC or RJ for a higher pick, or more expiring contracts and young players. They really need to do what philly did, but instead of building around Iggy, they can build around Harris, Boone, and Williams. Very solid young core, that con be improved with more years of experience and more talent via the draft. I just don't see the nets signing ANYONE thats going to put them into title contention as long as Detroit, Boston, and Orlando are around.

Keyon Dooling would be a great pickup. I've said that for years. He's the type of player who would've been a very good backup for Jason. Oh well. Still though, he's a very good defender and he can create his own shot. Good backup combo guard to have IMO.
