Every "superstar", "all-star" and anyone who is considered a "star" in any way is overpaid (with the exception of Tim Duncan). Comparing Vince's contract to other players' bloated contracts only makes this glaringly obvious.
I thought they resigned vince cause they thought the core of RJ, VC and Kidd, with 2 bigs like Kristic, Magloire, and Boki off the bench was good enough to get the conference finals, right?

The Nets currently have 51 million locked up in contracts for next season. The NBA luxury tax is set at 68 million. That leaves the Nets with 17 MILLION until they have to start paying a tax. And that is with Stro excercising his player option of 6 million. For the 2009/2010 season, the Nets have only 35 million in contracts. Vince Carter's contract is not holding the Nets back from signing anyone.

I don't agree that every player is "overpaid". Orlando gave Rashard Lewis a gigantic contract and he is worth every penny to them. That's how you build a team. Find a legitimate superstar and surround him with what he needs to win. Thorn had his chance and he completely mucked it up.

Are you actually saying the Celtics didn't try to trade Pierce? The ink wasn't even dry on that contract and they were pushing him out the door. Pay attention.

I'm sure the teams that drafted Kwame Brown, Nikoloz Tskitishvili, Darko Milicic, and Andrew Bogut all thought they were getting superstars too.
The Nets have had one for the last eight seasons and failed miserably at surrounding him with the right players. Now they have to start from scratch.
