Also, next year I'd expect Gabe to be with the team more than being in the D-League, so Sam can teach him a few things as well. I also expect Sam to tag along as an assistant coach when he's done playing. This really speaks volumes about how much Doc is respected by his players. Aquaitious I know you can't stand him, but let's face it - Doc isn't going anywhere any time soon no matter what happens in this year's playoffs. His players would take a bullet for him.
I love Doc as a coach and as a person. (not gay by the way lol) But he's done a great job, and I really think that every single player in the league likes him. (ok except haters) As for Sam I Am, why not, lets have him next season as well and like you said CB32, maybe he'll become and assistant after he retires. (he has a big mouth after all)

Yeah, the players love him, but I'm sure someone loves Isiah Thomas, doesn't mean he's a good coach. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CelticKing @ Apr 14 2008, 01:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I love Doc as a coach and as a person. Now is the time we find out if Doc can coach or not. If he can make the necessary adjustments from game to game to help the Celtics go all the way, I'll change my opinion of him. For the regular season, I will say he wasn't a complete incompetent by overplaying the big 3 as all 3 played less mins this year than their previous year.
I think Doc is in the same situation as Sam Mitchell was back when he won the Coach of the Year award. Sam had an awesome group of guys (thanks to Colangelo) and the team managed to attain a good record, but mostly due to the quality of the players, and not really Sam's coaching. Infact, this year has shown the Raptors that he isn't a good coach. I see Doc in a similar situation, where he might not be the best coach, but his players are so talented that they can play and win, and he gets the credit for leading them.
