What an emotional roller coaster. After the defeat to Phoenix last year, shit hit the fan. Kobe Bryant wanted out, and he was almost gone. He tore down Mitch, Bynum, Jerry and his son. We start the season 9-8. We then hit stride, 25-11 until Bynum goes down with a season ending (at least, regular season) knee injury. Shit looked grim, until Mitch pulled of a major block buster!!! 18 days after Gasol went down, on February 1st, the Lakers acquired PF/C Pau Gasol! After such a bleak off-season and a .500 start to the regular season, the Lakers have no come full circle and finished the season 57-25 and atop of the Western Conference...arguably the greatest conference in NBA history (New Orleans, San Antonio, Phoenix, Dallas). In the tightest race of all time, the Lakers have prevailed, despite injuries and all. We've survived the turmoil, now it's time to throw our conquest for the championship into full gear! Kobe Bryant has secured, in many people's opinion, that elusive MVP award! He was the ultimate leader. He was the ultimate tough guy, playing through an injury that would sit most players in the league! We saw our role players--Ariza, Sasha, Farmar (for the 1st half), Ronny, Luke, Radman, and Fisher--step up and bey crucial to our success. We saw the emergence of your young beast, Andrew Bynum! Get healthy young man, you've got one hell of a career in front of you! We saw the resurrection of Lamar Odom as a viable threat when he is our 3rd option. He scores, rebounds, passes, and isn't afraid to step it up defensively when he's called upon! The Goods has finally arrived for the Lakers. We saw the acquisition of the Spaniard!! He went down with an ankle injury, but came back strong so we could finish the season strong. He's definitely been our 2nd piece in our journey for the 1st seed. But most of all, we saw our team play team ball. The players didn't defer to Kobe too often--when they did, we went into our funks. We saw Kobe bail us out of numerous situations. He knew when to turn it on, when to pass, we saw us hang in there with all the tough teams of the west and all but one, Boston, of the east. We came from being the Los Angeles Bryant's into being the Los Angeles Lakers! To a successful post-season! To Kobe's MVP! To a Championship ring!

preach. no one saw this happening back in august. what a great way to cap off the toughest playoff race in recent memory. from 7th last year, to first this year. kupchak = GM of the year Kobe = MVP
I am truly shocked by the Lakers's season. They have been my second favorite team for a few seasons, behind the Nets. However, I didn't think they'd make the playoffs this year. Congratulations to all in Lakerland, and here's to another title. It's almost time to dismantle the Celtics one more time.
This season has been one of the best one's I have seen for the Lakers and Congrats to them for getting the top seed in the West. I also hope that Kobe gets the MVP award. Now the goal will be to win it all. Let's Go Lakers!!!!!!!!
Talk about a hell of a season. From 9-8 to best team in the West. Congrats Lakers, now it's time to get back to the NBA Finals and mop up the floor with whomever we play.
Awesome season. Kobe gets what he deserves, finally. The rest of the team didn't stand around and watch him play 1-on-5 this year. The 2nd team looked great. The funny thing is last summer (off-season), people were posing here that Mitch sucked and the team wasn't good, etc. Now go win the championship!
the season Honestly, I can go on and on about this season, but words cannot express how amazing and magical this year was for Laker basketball. We faced so many adversities throughout the season, whether it be Kobe Bryant's offseason tirades, or just the numerous amounts of injuries we had to go through. But in the end, we proved all the doubters wrong, Kobe proved all his doubters wrong, and now we are in a firm position to contend for the title for the next 5 years. Yes, this season has been nothing short of amazing, but it doesn't stop here. We still have 16 more games to win before Lamar can puff his
