    Here is the problem, in a case like this i would say that had that kid decided to bolt from the security officers, the state police would of been called and well the kid would be in a lot of hot water.

    We had one problem last year when a guest was being dumb and trying to get away from security and talking crap to security. Well the state police showed up, slamed the guys head into the ground the guy had a broken nose, and the State police took him away.
    </div>

    No he wouldn't have. Running is not against the law.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bravo369 @ Apr 17 2008, 09:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>i'm surprised to hear people say he doesn't have a case. Security physically pulled him out of the aisle. What if he fell and cracked open his head because this security guard reacted physically instead of rationally. Would he still not have a case? The kid went with the guard freely and didn't resist so i don't think it's hard to imagine the kid would have sat down if the guard gave him a warning first. I also see absolutely nothing wrong with what the kid did so i don't know what the Nets would want him to apologize for. If he stood on the seat and held up a sign that said "RJ FOR MVP" would security have reacted the same way? Yes i agree that it is private property and nets can kick him out but there's a right way and a wrong way to do it and the guard physically pulling this kid down like that was definately the wrong way. I would want at least something to happen to the guard simply so that he knows he shouldn't be just grabbing anyone like that. If anything, the kid should accept the punishment but ask the nets and security guard for an apology for the assault committed by guard and then agree not to sue. Also, is the guy even a security guard or an usher? if he's only an usher then it's even worse and i think the kid has even more grounds to sue.</div>

    And there it is. That's why there's no case.
    </div>

    That's what others thought as well, and well when we called local or NJSP on them well they ended up in a bit of trouble.

    Use the guy who had his nose broken by a state troper as a example.

    Well this is where it gets a little hazzy Because most security places must be certified to use the Cuffs and go through a training that cost like 200-300 dollars from what I hear. But my company actually works its way around this by making us go to Non Crisis Intervention training (NCI) which we get paid for. In turn our company allows us to carry handcuffs (I guess somewhere in the fine print it says if you do this NCI training you are allowed to carry cuffs). And the training is pretty easy. You do get beat up kinda learning techniques people can use on you and how you can avoid it but other than that its easy. However the way we different from most companies is although we carry the cuffs, we need to ask a supervisor or be in a extreme situation to use them. I know your saying to yourself how the hell are you going to ask a supervisor if you can cuff someone, is the person going to wait for you to get permission? I think this is just a way for the company to cover their own ass if you do put them on incorrectly and do not ask a supervisor and hurt the suspect. We have applied handcuffs without asking our supervisors without problems, but I assume if we did do it incorrectly, our boss would probably rat us out saying we never asked him to apply them.

    So its good that we get paid for what most people have to pay for to get...but we in turn we get limited powers and the chance of termination with use. So its a catch 22 using those things. But being 20yrs old and a college student just doing this part time....I really just wear them to look good around the female interns. My girlfriend doesn't mind me having them either.... Wow you are really lucky, i guess that is a out of house company that does the tranning then? We have the same policy kind of we can only cuff if someone is a threat, or something else like that. However when they are used the security sup in charge must be notifited and more paper work will be done, when ever we cuff the person is not going out of the cuffs till local PD shows up.

    Consider yourself lucky, our company does not allow officers to carry them, only Sgt's and up, however that may be changing this year we will see. Being a family park we dont use them often.

    Where do you work if you don't mind me asking? Saying Family park I assumed maybe Six Flags...and if you do I tip my hat to you sir. With the type of teens that go to that park now adays your more likely to get stabbed and should def carry cuffs....or maybe even a gun.

    No I won't, because the circumstances of any arbitrary run-in with security officers has no bearings on what we're talking about right now. The kid should have told the Izod security officers that he was leaving and walked to the exit. Now do the owners of the Izod center have the right to keep records of people who have infringed on their operating rules? Hey, maybe. But I'd bet they wouldn't go to court just to get a name and photo; that is, if they could then find him [IMG]

    edit: They could have a name from who paid for the ticket, and they could record license plate numbers, and that would be ok. But I certainly wouldn't stick around and help them out in that regard.

    Now question, what kind of tranning did you have to go through to carry the cuffs? Reason i ask is cause where I am we do have the tranning class however it is very very hard from what i hear, i also understand that our dept has used them like twice in 10 years.
