so Frank Deford of CNNSI.com wrote an article about MMA and how boxing is losing out to it in popularity to the 'video game generation' because boxing isn't violent enough and how MMA is a blood sport.. blah blah blah more ignorant half assed journalism ensues.

well i got fed up and I wrote back to him.. fully expecting to be ignored.

    anywho here's what I wrote:

    Re: your MMA article.
obviously you haven't watch much MMA if you think it's a blood sport. Sure guys get cut sometimes viciously so, but the majority of fights do not have blood in them. I've followed the sport for over 3 years now and many of times there is little to no blood involved in the entire event. There is much strategy involved and with wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu involved, a lot of what happens doesn't involve striking either. MMA is more interesting than Boxing because there are more options for winning a fight.
Your biased disdain for MMA is obvious and ruins your integrity. Boxing is about not getting hit? Since when? The best boxing matches have always included two tough guys going toe to toe and slugging it out. Tell me, was Mike Tyson making 20 Million a fight because he had great defense or because he hit and admittedly liked hurting people and knocking them out?
MMA is the evolution of combat sports, maybe you’re just too old to appreciate. Maybe SI needs younger writers who are in touch with today’s sports fans writing for them too.
don't worry, I don't expect this to be published, I just couldn't ignore such hatred to a sport I've grown to enjoy as much as I enjoy Basketball and Football.

p.s. here's the link to the article, read it an weep MMA fans.

This guy obviously has no clue what boxing can do to you physically. Some may argue boxing has greater risk of causing brain damage than MMA fighting. Getting hit all day in the head will give you side effects and I've watched a ton of bloodied boxing matches. This is total BS if you ask me.
