A scriptwriter couldn't have dreamed up this one: In the final game of a season where individual agendas ruled, Joakim Noah lost his starting center position because he returned late from an excused trip to New York for the death of a close friend.

"We gave Joakim permission to fly home to New York [Monday]," interim coach Jim Boylan said. "He was supposed to be back earlier. He was late. How much he plays, we'll see how that goes."

Boylan said Noah would be active. The Bulls had Monday off but Noah missed the team shootaround held at the United Center prior to the 7:30 p.m. tipoff against Toronto. Noah arrived at the United Center at 6:25, almost two hours after the scheduled shootaround.</div>

FWIW, Noah's plane was three hours late (I'm sure Noah is responsible for the plane delay!).

Also, Boylan made a snide comment about it not being family.
