    I gave him a C-.

He hit the rookie wall big time but he was one of the few reasons why I watched. He needs to get stronger because he definitely has a lot of promise but he gets pushed around a lot.

I gave him a B because he came into here and was one of the top players in blocks in the entire league. The addition of Swift and Diop along with the return of Krstic killed the momentum.

A lot more than all of us expected and I can say by far the most entertaining part of the season was when him and Boone were starters.

I gave him the A b/c of the fact that so many people (alot from this site) doubted he would ever touch the floor and he was too raw to play. Everybody wanted him to play in the D-League. The kid was 2nd in the league in blocks per 48 minutes! He's got a bright future.. we just have to get rid of that funny lookin leprechaun that seems to sit on the bench and act like he's the leader of the net players. Don't know why he's there

    I gave him a B.

I didn't think much of him when he was drafted, but he really surprised me in early parts of the season. For one, I really didn't expect him to play so well, especially on defense. We all read about his ability to block shots, but man was it impressive in the first games when he was swatting everything.

It was sad to see him hit the rookie wall, but then again it happens to many rookies. If he works hard this offseason, he'll definitely do well next year.

I can't decide how to vote.

Should I vote how he did relative to my expectations or should I vote on an absolute scale of NBA players?

I gave him a B, because he played far better than anyone expected him to.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>Despite Disappointing End, Williams?€™ Season a Success
April 17, 2008, 1:53 pm Sean Williams sat on the bench a lot during the end of the season, but on the whole, he did better than almost anyone in the Nets organization or Net fan had a right to expect. He started 29 games and finished second in the league in blocks per 48 minutes at 4.03. And his eight blocks against the Kings on December 18 came within two of the NBA rookie record. In the final rookie rankings, he finishes in the top 20 in most; top 10 in Hollinger's statistical analysis.</div>

I gave him a B. What did you expect from our draft position last year?

Well if we go with the usual convention, where a "C" is an average performance...

    - He exceeded our expectations in terms of his offensive ability
    - He severely regressed in his performance in the second half of the year
    - Taking into consideration where he was drafted...

    I'll give him a C+

I had that problem as well. I'd think, however, that when talking about rookies, people tend to talk about their production in terms of what is expected out of them.

That's why I voted B. He was considered raw, had possible behavior issues, and was drafted in the teens where many bigs become busts. However he's started 39 (?) games, provides some of the season's best highlights and averaged respectable numbers, while (when motivated) playing quite well.

I didn't give him an A because, well, he's still raw (still looks somewhat jerky out there, little offensive game), and is reported to have behavior issues (Dave D: "millionaire athelete, 10 cent head").

Well, I'm also anticipating the likely discussion of well the majority voted player X as a B, but voted player Y as a C. Player Y had better stats than player X so something is wrong here.

    B-.

He played a lot more than I thought he would coming into the season. He definitely hit the rookie wall hard and needs to develop more of an offensive game. He showed glimpses of a decent jump shot, but just looks way too awkward and out of place in the post. Defensively, the blocks obviously stand out. But, I was never impressed with how he sometimes let the offensive player drive by him just so he could get a block from behind; can't do that in the big leagues Sean. He needs to add bulk or else he'll never be a true, legit post defender.

Yeah, comparisons to other Nets wouldn't work. Other rookies however...

Because for some people, for some things, a lot of thought must be put on things.
