<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>Vince Carter assumed the mantle of team leadership after Jason Kidd went south … in so many ways. As such, he is voicing his opinion more and one opinion he wants known is that Richard Jefferson should be in the team locker room come October. He admits though: “We could always use some rebounders.” RJ wants to be back. “I do want to stay,” he said. “But it’s not all about what you want”. Indeed, Jefferson could be the team’s biggest off-season asset.</div> Nets not happy with long vacation - Dave D'Alessandro - Star-Ledger Richard Jefferson in rare territory - Julian Garcia - New York Daily News Next for the Nets - Al Iannazzone - The Record I could care less about if RJ comes back. Vince needs to stay far, far away from the front office. If his suggestions to Toronto's front office are any indication, he has no future in team management.

I'm a huge fan of Vince but it's obvious from his Toronto days that he doesn't have the best eye for talent.

Grunwald wanted a center so Antonio Davis could move back to his PF position. Grunwald was also interested in Hakeem years before the signing: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/archive/index.php/t-10860.html <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Davis would like to hand over the majority of the centre chores to someone else, and there is one very intriguing possibility on the free-agent market: Houston's Hakeem Olajuwon. Olajuwon is among a small group of aging centres that includes Patrick Ewing and Arvydas Sabonis. He would be a nice fit within the Toronto offence, as well as supplying the sort of presence that Davis talked about in lieu of Oakley. And he's a guy Grunwald has shown much interest in before - admittedly, a younger Olajuwon, two or three years ago.</div>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"But I still say if we keep the core guys here and get everybody healthy, we can be back quickly. You just have to add pieces to get better. But Carter refused to play GM, other than to express how disappointed he'd be if he and Richard Jefferson were broken up -- a distinct possibility, given Jefferson's value on the trade market. "If that happened, I'd have to adjust. But I hope it doesn't happen," Carter said. "If it does, we better get something good for RJ. He had a hell of a year. He's a great player. If we lost him, we'd definitely need someone to pick up where he left off."</div> Not exactly like Carter is playing GM there. He's not taking a hard position and sounds like he's just standing by his teammate.

I was really just trying to make a light-hearted remark about his not so shining suggestions for Toronto's signings. To be fair, I should also point out that he lobbied heavily for Steve Nash years ago, well before anyone saw Nash becoming a two-time league MVP. If Toronto had made that move, Vince might still be there.
