    We Laker fans need to face the facts.

    Our team defense sucks.

    Don't rush them back, but Ariza and Bynum are what made us a good defensive team earlier this year. Bynum swatted any inside shots, and aside from Kobe, Ariza was our best perimeter defender. I don't know if our team can contend against the Celtics or Spurs unless we have those two back.

    I wouldn't say Ariza made us a good defensive team.

    Bynum was definitely crucial in our post defense. Bynum's post D improved the whole team. When Bynum was in, he improved Kobe's perimeter D. Guards who blew by Farmar and Fisher didn't score as much because of Bynum.

    That's the only difference.

    They should save Ariza for the second round. We don't need him just yet, better to give him more to heal.

    We'll need him in the second round a lot more against tougher, defensive minded teams like Rockets or Jazz.
