<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Forget for a moment about Avery being completely overmatched by the opposing coach in yet another playoff game. The most concerning thing about New Orleans' Game 2 blowout is that the Mavs basically rolled over after a rough start. "It's just an awful first quarter," Avery said, "and they pretty much had us on our heels at that point." So this team doesn't have the toughness to fight back from a 10-point deficit with 36 minutes to go? The Mavs didn't tonight, failing to ever make the game anything but a Big Easy basketball party. - From Dallas Morning News - http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/20...n-big-easy.html</div> I find this little tidbit from a Dallas Morning News reporter to be highly entertaining and a bit ironic. Talk about having a glass jaw. Talk about letting go of the rope. Oops.....
People miss the point.... Kidd wanted out of NJ to win a championship... he went to Dallas and they are not championship contenders. In fact I doubt Kidd ever wins a championship in Dallas unless they shake things up. The Hornets are younger and better and will be title contenders for a while. They had to fight pretty hard to make the playoffs. The West is too tough. All Kidd got was an extra 4 or 5 games of work. Was it worth it?

kidd can win or lose...i really don't care...all i care about regarding kidd is the mavs having a losing season in 2009-10 so the nets can get a high pick from that 1st rounder the mavs gave us (and to a lesser degree, the mavs also losing next season so we get a higher chance of finding a gem with the mavs' 2nd rd pick)...thanks for the kidd-to-kmart alley oops but no thanks for selfishly wanting out and talking ill about the nets organization to try and cover it up (ala zo mourning)...but it's all in the past now and can't come back nor can be changed so no use thinking too much of it... but if we talk about the kidd trade...well, the nets may be out of the playoffs but the nets' future is brighter than the mavs' after the trade...the mavs have to pay $20M to someone who clearly cannot take them over the top (much like the suns will with shaq) and gave us their future (harris, 2 1st rounders)...the only positive for the mavs is that they got rid of an overpaid player in hassell ($8M for 2 yrs still)...

so I read this thread before I fell asleep...and had a strange dream last night. I was at a grammar school and there was a charity basketball tournament. It was Denver vs. Lakers and Dallas vs. Nets. I was a player on the Nets. After being benched, I went over to Kidd (who happened to be benched) and started talking to him. He said: "I hate it here in Dallas...managment is all messed up...everything behind the scenes is done wrong." I said: "isn't that how it was in Jersey too? " Kidd: "yeah, I wish I would have gotten to go to LA instead. " me: "that would have been interesting to see, but they got Gasol instead. at least you didn't end up on the Knicks!" Kidd: "tell me about it. oh well. I guess I'm stuck here" Kenyon Martin walks over Martin: "what's up Kidd!?" he sits next to me me: "yo k-mart what's goin on!? " martin: "long time no see knowwhati'msayin? " me: "yeah, I'll never forget the time you threw a towel at me after game 2 of the 03 finals" then I woke up.
sometimes you need to take a step back to take a step forward... thats why im happy in our position right now because we have a lot of assets and our future is bright. Dallas's future just started looking gloomier than ever

At worst Devin Harris is a step sideways when compared with this version of Kidd - and that's just in pure basketball terms. Throw in Kidd's selfishness, divisiveness and off-court nonsense and it's really no contest.
i agree with everything ghoti is saying but im not surprised by whats happened with kidd in the playoffs so it should be no shock. who didnt pick chris paul to dismantle kidd? us nets fans witnessed kidd get destroyed every night by quick guards so its nothing new or unexpected

It's ok to hate Kidd for what he did to the Nets, but why is everyone hating on the Mavericks too and wishing them ill? Raptor fans don't hate the Nets because Carter left and went there, they hate Carter. I think Nets fans are just mad that Kidd got what he wanted and actually landed on a playoff team while their own team got to go fishing early, and all they got were draft picks that seriously, won't be lottery picks and Devin Harris, who is good, but will never be anywhere near what Kidd was for the Nets or take the team anywhere. I mean, you guys didn't make it into the playoffs in the East, while teams like Atlanta and Philly did, so that must be embarrassing. So essentially, they felt ripped off by the deal and are venting their anger on both Kidd and the Mavs.

I wish the Mavs to do poorly this year because I want jason Kidd to get what he deserves. It could also lead to a complete dismantling, which could increase the chance that the 2010 pick is in the lottery. Saying that Devin Harris "will never be anywhere near what Kidd was" misses the point: Kidd today is nothing near what he was, as well, and it is time everyone started to recognize it. Finally, I'm thrilled that the Nets missed the playoffs. If it was the only way to kick Rod Thorn into action to completely revamp the roster, instead of looking for quick-fix bandaids, I'm all for it. Oh--your final sentence. You will be hard-pressed to find a Nets fan who believes that the Nets were "ripped off." We received a solid PG, two picks (one potentially in the lottery), cap relief, a young player whose potential is something more than zero, and a couple of trade exceptions. the only downside is that we had to take Trent Hassell.

Agreed 100% with that, and I'm sure most other Nets fans would as well.
