That would be a steal for us be leave us empty at the three. We'd have to rely on Nachbar or some cheap FA.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (cpawfan @ Apr 23 2008, 03:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Why would the Clippers do that?</div> If they decided to rebuild, it's not that bad. They get LaFrentz' expiring ~$13M contract next year, knock off KVH's salary immediately and get 3 pretty good young players.
How much for trade purposes is Van Horn's contract worth? I know Ianazzone mentioned it a couple of times in articles but never the amount.

Smokey, Softee and Jack are 3 young players, but I don't see any pretty good ones on that list </div> I guess we have a difference of opinion. Frye had some moments in the NYK uniform. He can rebound and shoot the midrange J. Chris Bosh light. Jack is part of the Blazers' young core. He's a decent guard, averaging 10/3/4 in less than 30 mins. And when you said that Sean Williams isn't good, you probably offended at least half the people on this board. He's not polished, he misses defensive assignments, but his athleticism is out of this world, and he actually wants to play defense. He also seems a bit smarter than Swift, so there's a chance he becomes a solid starter.. call him K-Mart light.
Jack is not part of the Blazers core. Nate overplays him, but the front office does not view him as part of their core. He is not anyone to base a trade around. I won't bother getting into Softee is you are calling him Bosh-lite.

But Jack was a large part of their success when they went on a tear. He is part of the "young core", as in, players who made them more successful than others could have imagined. Haha. Well, Bosh basically is Mr. Softee himself. I'm not overlooking Frye's flaws by any means, but he can be a pretty decent role player for a team. None of these players are what you base a trade around. But that's not the scenario. If the Clippers decided to rebuild, as you know, they'd look for young players and salary cap relief. KVH's deal was around $4M, LaFrentz is around $13M, that's a lot of money that comes off the books after next season. Then they get a talented young players like Williams, and 2 players who can either develop into something or at least plug in the holes for a spell. Throw in a 1st round pick and it's a pretty decent trade.

The Blazers core is Roy, Aldrigde and Oden with high hopes for Rudy Fernandez. Jack does not fit what the Blazers FO wants because Jack slows the game down / isn't capable of running the break and he looks for his own shot too much. I'll be shocked if Jack is still on Portland's roster next season. There is not enough talent in this trade for Sterling to give up the one player he is willing to pay the big money.
Probably not. Unless he says "oh well. we had our playoff fun. now the conference is insanely strong and chances of us making the playoffs while Baylor is the GM are pretty much zip. it's time to be a cheapass again."
Jack is not one of the blazers young core by any means. Cpaw hit it right on the head when he said Oden, Roy, Aldridge and for the most part Rudy. Jack is probably the most hated Blazer player, he had over 60 4th quarter turnovers this year and is better suited playing SG than PG. With that said he's still a decent young player. Webster and Outlaw are much better and if I was a betting man I would bet that one of them will be traded as the "main piece" with Jack this offseason.
