something like 40 million $ $ $....Largest contract ever for a DE, and KC is now loaded with draft picks...not up yet on most web sites. I got it off the radio.

I love it! KC is trading away all proven talent so that they can get younger....and dumber. You know the saying, "young, dumb, and full of ___". This hurts them in the short term, possibly good long term. Time will tell. I think its safe to say that they will be solely occupying last place this season.

Damn, that teams going to be nasty this upcoming season. What an addition.

I've seen reports that they're giving a 1st, 3rd, and 2nd next year for him. Good deal for both sides.

Why is a Raider fan happy? Won't be the bottom dweller anymore? You still can't touch SD.

ESPN is reporting that the deal may be for as much as #17 overall + a 2nd and a 3rd....if thats the case, its a steal for the Chefs....I think its more likely #17 overall and either the 2nd or 3rd

They will replace Allen with perhaps the second or third best DE coming out this year at #5. Not equal to Allen, in my opinion. So gaining a pick in day 2 and a 2nd rounder next year kind of makes it all even.

Heres a scenario to piss off the Raider fans: Now that Jake Long is off the board, the Rams turn their attention to Dorsey, the Falcons grab Ryan, the Raiders take McFadden and Son of Howie ends up at Arrowhead....that mightbe worth it just for the entertainment value alone....

I have already thought of that scenario, Beef, so there is no shock value. That's just not going to be how it goes down. It would be hilarious though, especially the day of the event when you start reading all the blogging and forums from Raider fans. The Raiders are so close to the pick, and at the same time are so far from him. It's got everything in it - HOF team legend's son, millions of fans and former Raiders hoping that it goes down. It's going to be a huge letdown when the smoke clears and the Lambs take him from us. After Art Shell v.2, comedy and tragedy sort of blend together for me.

Hahahaha. Of course it makes me happy. It should be making every other team in that division happy. You are a little smug about your teams' situation right now. That's good for you guys, because historically, there has been very little to get excited about. Keep the faith. Someday, your team will be invited to the table with the other teams that have trophies sitting in their lobbies. The thing is....it might not happen in your lifetime. Not to stress, it didn't happen in your parents lifetime either. [IMG]

The average lifespan of an NFL running back is 4 years. Your best player, LaDainian (Can't call him LT, because that would be an insult to the original LT) is now 28 years old (7 years in the league). He is the key for this Chargers team to get a trophy and their window of opportunity is shrinking rapidly. This team kind of reminds me of the Chiefs a few years ago. They had a tremendous offensive line and running backs. They were putting up double-digit win totals regularly. Those lineman got old, and Priest Holmes got knocked the F out.

10 years from now, we will be watching Tomlinson highlights, and talking about how he, Dan Fouts, and Kellen Winslow were so much fun to watch, but were such a letdown because they couldn't win a Superbowl.

    <bump>

Also, how many times does Carl Peterson get to rebuild the same team? That a-hole has helped the Chefs get to zero Superbowls during his tenure as a GM. What has it been, like 20 years that Carl has had that job?!?!?!?!?

Agreed. Carl Peterson has gotten far too many mulligans. The Chiefs rebuilding? Let me just say that Herm is not the sharpest knife in the drawer and remaking the team in "his image" will only lead down.

Jared Allen never really impressed me. He came out of nowhere and had a meteoric rise. Now, that he's got his money watch him slide into obscurity.

Having been to Pocatello (home of Idaho St U (Allen's Alma mater)), I can safely say that he came out of nowhere. Utah may be the butt of the nations jokes but Idaho is the butt of ours.

As Isaac Newton said, "What goes up must comes down." Case in point; the Rams came out of nowhere in 99 and are now back to their mediocre ways.

    The Vikings have gone insane...

    Link:

I think Allen is a good player, but is he the difference maker that's going to get the Vikings as a team over the hump? Not even close!

And despite this, the Vikings gave up a pretty high first round pick and two third round picks in exchange for Allen and a better spot in the sixth round (pick swap).

    PURE INSANITY!

I love it...but only because I hate the Vikings so much. [IMG]

    Chiefs fans must be ecstatic!

I don't understand why the Vikings would give up all this money and so many draft picks and not get themselves a front line quarterback. Adrian Peterson is going to take a beating this year.

The Chiefs need all the picks they can get.

Herschel Walker deal? Who in this room is old enough to have watched that trade go down between the Viqueens and the Cowboys?

In the last company I worked for, there was a woman named Ida Ho.

When you listen to this out loud, it can be somewhat funny:

"Who's the ho around here anyway?"

    "I da Ho," she replied.

    or

"Excuse me, ma'am, I don't see your name on our guest list, you are..."

"Ida Ho," she says as she finishes his sentence for him.

Want to bet on the slide to obscurity?

If Allen keeps his nose clean, he'll continue to be among the elite DEs in the league.

They still believe in Jackson. He was raw as hell coming out of the draft. But he looked like he was starting to piece some things together towards the end of the season.

Dunno if it will carry over or not.

But if the Vikings defense is good next year like it should be, combine that with an excellent running game, they could make some noise next year.

heh heh, Jared, meet Rex Grossman.

    <Boom!>

I will reiterate, NFL Sack leader is an elite title. You are competing with at least 63 other starters *at your position*, as well as any of the other defensive front 7 positions. Also, consider the overall defensive strength of his team. It's not like Jared was getting a ton of coverage sacks or anything like that. He creates his own plays, and that makes him brilliant.
