<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>While Rick Carlisle is the leading candidate for the Chicago Bulls coaching job, multiple league sources say that an intriguing name has gained momentum within the franchise’s front office: Michigan State’s Tom Izzo. Bulls GM John Paxson granted Carlisle the first interview in the process, two league sources said, and Carlisle made a strong impression. But Chicago officials were still busy gathering intelligence on him Tuesday, reaching out around the league to those who had worked with him at stops with the Pacers and Pistons. Nevertheless, the search won’t be limited to Carlisle. There’s been much internal discussion over Izzo, whom many NBA officials believe is one of the rare college coaches who can make the transition to the pros. When reached on Tuesday night, Izzo told Yahoo! Sports that he hadn’t been contacted by the Bulls, but sounded willing to discuss the job with them.</div> http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ag7q...o&type=lgns
As an MSU alum, I'm sort of concerned that Izzo is going to go somewhere. As a Bulls fan I wouldn't necessarily want him here. Both because I don't know that a college coach is gonna be good for a pro team and because I don't know that I'd wish this mess on Izzo.
The job offers are slowly becoming more attractive and accomodating for Izzo (from Atlanta to Toronto to Chicago). I think eventually he'll give it a shot. It might not be with the Bulls this year, but there will be better opportunities.
Can anybody provide me with any reason that Izzo would want to coach here? Less money, check, shitty team, check, unmanageable attitudes, check.
Yeah, MSU has a good recruiting class coming in, and can afford to be selective. That being said, I think he's slowly getting tired of the recruiting game and the NCAA rules-fest he has to work around.
