Dave D: Thorn Knows He Needs a “Stud”
April 23, 2008, 6:52 pm Rod Thorn may not seem to have a plan, may claim he is still working on a plan, but Dave D’Alessandro thinks Thorn knows “they cannot move up unless they acquire a stud”. Who that stud might be and how he gets to Jersey remains a mystery. Dave also thinks that the Nets may move Marcus Williams for their–and his–own good; that the Nets will probably go for a big in the draft; that Richard Jefferson’s ego is getting in the way; and that Gana Diop may not demand as big an offer as people think.

We're trading away Marcus, okay. Yet we're getting a big in the Draft?

Um, I hope Thorn has a plan of who to sign as a FA. We have holes at every position, but our needs are mainly in perimeter defense and shooting.

The only problem with that chart is that the market tanked in late 2001 because of 9-11. No thanks.

actually, the market peaked in February, 2001, and had already lost a large percentage of its value prior to sept 2001. Don't you remember the tech bubble bursting that summer, the NASDAQ sinking like a rock? I know this because, yes, I pumped money into the market in early February, 2001.

After reading this article, I've given up hope on the pipe dream of Elton Brand. Even if he opts out, he's not leaving L.A.

A stud and definately a reach and highly doubt it could be done but T-wolves Al Jefferson. We had a shot back a couple of years ago to ship RJ to Boston for big Al and let's be real he has owned us everytime we played against us.

Maybe hopes of him opting out are slim to none, but we could still trade for him.

And d-block, absolutely no way Twolves trade Al Jefferson. This is the first year of rebuilding for them, they won't trade their best and most consistent player away after that.

I'm not overly impressed with his defense. I actually think Collins was better or equal to Diop. Just as inept on offense (although Collins may have been better at screens, but Diop can actual jump high enough to dunk), but better positional defender and team defender. Took way more charges. Diop can block shots, but didn't even do that very much.

I hope Thorn is taking a serious look at trading for this guy

Is it possible Thorn can talk Brand into opting out or is that tampering.

Is it tampering if Thorn calls Brand's agent and asks if his client plans on opting out? Not now, but over the summer.
