I love to praise and defend Kidd, but the last two games have been a joke. I really don't understand what the deal is. Is Avery Johnson running the offense a certain way in which it's hurting Kidd's ability to make his teammates better? Or is he taking more of a backseat because he has Dirk, Terry, and Howard on the team? There were numerous plays last night, where Kidd would advance the ball upcourt, throw to Howard, and then disappear near the 3-point line. What's the deal with that? From my understanding, Kidd was brought in to help the offense. Instead, you have Josh Howard running an iso. Who's call is this? Kidd isn't a great shooter, but what happened to driving in and kicking the ball out to an open teammate. You drive the ball towards the basket, and the defense will react each time, but yet Kidd's not looking to do that. I'm having a hard time comprehending why such an easy thing is a mystery to the Dallas offense. This might be Kidd's fault or Avery's fault, but either way, Paul is burning us, and Dallas isn't helping themselves by excluding Kidd from their offense.
Kidd needs the ball in his hands to be effective. And he has been when he has control. I just don't believe that Avery is ready to let Jason do his thing. Avery wants to always put his stamp on every play. And this simply won't work. Not for Dallas, not for any team. Great coaches knows that. And Avery is not one.
It probably just has to do with Dallas' offense. Since Nash left, Dallas has been running more of an iso style offense. They've been running it for years, and it will take some time to adapt to make an offense that better fits' Kidd's abilities that he has to offer. The Dallas offense is: 1. Josh Howard doing an iso. 2. Jason Terry doing one. 3. Jerry StackHouse doing one. 4. Dirk shooting a fade-away jumper while covered. 5. Sometimes Devin Harris would play more of a typical pg role, and drive and dish. 6. Damp grabbing an offensive board and scoring.
It's really frustrating how a lot are quick to judge on how the trade is a failure. And what more, they blame Kidd. It's not like Kidd had proper preparations going to Dallas. He was injected in the middle of the season with already the load on his shoulders of leading the team to a championship. And it's not like Avery has made it easy. The window given to Kidd and Dallas to be in synch is small and tight. True, Cuban invested a lot in him to be able o deliver in that short span, which only makes the pressure even bigger. Kidd is in a situation were the team practically had the championship in hand and let it slip. Not to mention losing to the 8th seed in the first round of the playoffs after a 67 win season to lead the NBA. There's a lot on his shoulders and people don't seem to realize it. All they see and choose to look at are the end scores. There's a lot more into it. Cuban gave him a window of this season and next. Let's do the same.

What, you're denying that Kidd's a superstar? Helloooo? When 90% of people consider you a future HOFer, you're a superstar. Kidd just doesn't fit in with Mavs players and the coach. Kidd needs runners, shooters and penetrators who kick it out. Dallas has too many players that need the ball, and too many people who shoot J's. Avery doesn't make it easier by thinking that he's the best PG/coach on the team.
