http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?.../SP1410BV5B.DTL The team motto for this year- "All out, all season." Fans have changed it to "All outs, all season," b/c that's basically what watching a Giants game is. All outs, no hits, no runs. Sanchez needs to develop another pitch to use consistently with his fastball, but if he can then they should stop flip-flopping him between the rotation and bullpen. To me he is exactly like Oliver Perez of the Mets. All the tools but inconsistent. The injury to Noah Lowry in spring training solidified Sanchez's spot in the rotation to start the year, and although he has had a couple bad starts, he deserves to stay there. The only Giant pitcher that hasn't been inconsistent has been Lincecum (4-0, tied for second in the NL in strikeouts and wins, second in ERA).
G's are surprisingly fun to watch this year and they aren't too bad of a team overall. Offense still blows but godamn the pitching is good. Lincecum is a fuggin stud all around. Sanchez has had a couple of great outings. Cain was shaky at first but seems more solid now. Zito blows ass but you can pretend hes the last guy in the rotation and Cain is the ace. Correia isn't as terrible as I thought he would be. Lowry isn't even playing yet. Even if they aren't winning a ton of games the future of the team is brighter than I thought it would be going into the season. Obviously you've got all the young pitching but some solid young fielding prospects have emerged. Bowker came up with a bang, hes cooled off significantly but you have to like his swing and the fact that hes got some pop. Hes adjusting very nicely to 1st base. Velez is a solid switch hitter with awesome speed. I also like his versatility on the field being able to play 2B, 3B as well as in the outfield. Burriss is a decent SS prospect with good speed. Bocock is a very good defensive player and perhaps with some time can develop his offense a little bit like Vizquel (not that I ever expect him yo be anything other htan average). Fred Lewis has thrived as a leadoff guy and finally shown consistency after his major league career was defined by highs and lows. With the energy, speed, and production from the youth mixed with inspiring play by some of the vets (namely Rowand and Molina) as well as fantastic pitching the team isn't doing too bad. Since the 1-5 start they're 10-7. They've won 5 of the last 7. Its great to see as a Giants fan because even if they aren't winning they're competitive and its a lot of fun to watch the young guys play. I came into the season expecting to be a historically bad team with no half decent prospects but they've really been a surprise to me. Sit back and enjoy Giants fans.
You never root for injuries, but it was great seeing Dave Roberts go down so that Lewis could play everyday. I was kind of surprised that they put Rajai Davis on waivers, although I guess they saw enough to figure out that he will never be anything more than a pinch runner/backup outfielder. Cain is still capable of being one of the best pitchers in the league, but it would be nice to see them limit his innings and actually give him some run support every now and then. I'm against limiting these young kids pitch counts, but you have a legitimate reason to now w/ Cain. Lincecum has a great fastball, and by now everyone knows that. But he's got a wicked curveball, too.
They're not sure what to do yet. The next time he is scheduled to pitch is the day after an off-day, so they could just skip his spot in the rotation. But it's no gaurantee that he would even be ready for his next start after that. It would really be nice to have Noah Lowry right now, but it's better to get these guys healthy then to bring them back too early. I hope they don't give up anything in a trade to get a starter b/c Correia will be back soon and Lowry will also be back eventually. Brad Hennessey has experience starting in the past and isn't a late innings guy for them anyways. I guess I got what I deserved for being happy that a player got hurt.

Don't know much about the team's farm system prospects but Misch was decent last year.
