Drafting Henne is not an indictment of Beck as the experts think. You need 2 QB's now. How many years has that position been a joke? Neither Chad nor John is a genetic freak or athletically stacked (get the references, Dale? lol.) like say JaMarcus. Both are not completely mechanically sound but are not wrecks like Tedford QB's e.g. Akili Smith, Boller, Rodgers, or Harrington.

Henne is more the Parcells type physically and better suited for the physical style Parcells & co are supposedly implementing. They are working with Beck on gaining more mass as well as the low delivery.

I about passed out when they got Merling. Allegedly, he's more complete than Gaines Adams who Chucky acquired drafted out of Clemson last yr. Insights Beef; Being a Clemson fan?

Was this one of the players that Miami was rumored to trade back up into round one for? This all but signals JT's departure IMO. Merling is/was great value. Many mocks had him gong to Minny @ 17.

Do they get Godfrey (Iowa (big physical CB)) @ the top of round 3? I'll be interested to see who Miami gets w/ the pick in round 4 for Lorenzo Booker.

J Long = Franchise Left Tackle? Rationale is; he reminds Tuna of Jumbo Elliott.

I was a little surprised to see Lorenzo Booker traded already. Did we ever really get to see what he can do?

I don't know much about Merling or Henne, so I haven't really formed an opinion really. Still, it seems like a pretty good day one. I guess I'm just going to have to trust Big Papa Tuna to have our hook up. Holla, if you hear me! (I can't believe I just wrote that.)

yes, but they already have 2 QB's McCown and Beck. Why use a day 1 draft pick on the #3 quarterback? I don't get that. They couldn't just go hit the waiver wire or something to address this?

They're thinking of lining up Henne as a FB? lol

Got a new nickname for Jake - "The Big Moon over Miami"

    Merling was a good choice.

Merling was a steal where they got him....I dont believe they targeted him, but thats because they thought he would be gone....I dont think he effects Jason Taylors status though, as they are different types....Merling is a run stuffer 1st and a bull rusher next....hes close to 280lbs, and projects at DE in a 3-4, or maybe base end in a 4-3....I think they drafted him for the 3-4....Henne was a guy they liked as maybe the 2nd best QB on the board....I dont think they targeted him either, but when he fell, they jumped at the chance....its not a knock on John Beck, its adding another arm to compete, and in the NFL, you cant have too many legit arms, unless your Tampa that has about 9 now....I dont really care if its Beck or Henne going forward, let the best guy win the job.....

Maybe J Taylor is not on the way out? Perhaps, its Matt Roth?

Im sure they will keep 7-10 D-lineman that fit the 3-4 and 7-8 LBs....Taylor will be an OLB in my opinion going forward....they have 3-4 ends coming out their ass now, so the competition will be fierce....what they lack is a young NT they can trust to perform....Ferguson is a coach on the field, Solai has work to do to stick, and Starks will play there some, but is a better fit at DE in the system....atleast they have bodies though, and a legit competition should benefit the defense
