I'd like to get this forum active, now that my school year is winding down. I know there are a few Giants fans on this site and there are more football fans in general, so we should be able to actively discuss the team. And since we've just finished the NFL draft, I figure that's probably the best place to start. Here's what the Giants ended up with when it was all said and done: Round 1: Kenny Phillips, S (Miami) Round 2: Terrell Thomas, CB (USC) Round 3: Mario Manningham, WR (Michigan) Round 4: Bryan Kehl, LB (BYU) Round 5: Jonathan Goff, LB (Vanderbilt) Round 6: Andre Woodson, QB (Kentucky) Round 6: Robert Henderson, DE (Southern Mississippi) So what are your thoughts on this group of rooks? What picks did you like? What picks didn't you like? In what capacity do you see these players playing and how good do you think they can be? Drop all your opinions in here.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Round 3: Mario Manningham, WR (Michigan)</div> Great pick. I wanted the Cowboys to draft this guy, but I guess they thought otherwise. He looks like a guy who will be a very underrated WR, but can do a lot of damage.
I'm no NFL draft guru but I'd say they made out pretty well. With Kenny Phillips you've got one of the top two safeties in the draft to come in and help out the secondary that just lost Gibril Wilson. I know nothing about Terrell Thomas but, again another guy to help the secondary where they are really lacking. Manningham in the third is a very good pick and Andre Woodson in the 6th is an excellent low risk, high reward pick.
Kenny Phillips was a great pick. I kind of wanted the Eagles to take him at #19. He will fill in for the loss of Gibril Wilson pretty nicely IMO. Mario Manningham, from what I've heard, is a terrific talent, but has some character issues. If he can get everything sorted out, I think he'll be a pretty good player in the future. I'm not really sure about the other guys, are you guys going to keep Andre Woodson at QB or change his position?

It makes me worry about getting Gabril because he already won the big game, and he just got paid. I hope we can get the same results from him this season. Manningham is my other favorite out of this group.
I'm just going with Reese. I'm sure they'll all be great. What I found interesting is that while offensive talent (and TERRIFIC value picks) like Manningham and Woodson reportedly scored embarassingly low on the Wonderlic, both Kehl and Goff both scored very high. They obviously value intelligence in the LB spot. That's a trend around the league as LBs now have less to do athletically but must make good reads and quick decisions and play with a lot of discipline. And I LOVE Woodson. I don't care about his demeanor (they say he's too laid back, but I don't see it) or some "hitch" in his release. He has plenty of time to develop and he is very, very good. He has all the physical tools and I have seen him make great reads and just carve up defenses. He played with the same quality of talent as Matt Ryan and made far fewer mistakes. I'd take him eight days a week over Chad Henne, who I watched a lot and can't believe was so highly rated.
