I dunno, I thought it was a level trade. They upgraded their starting 5, but the took away some of their bench. Seemed balanced for them. It was a better trade for NJ though. They got a handful of guys with Finals experience for one superstar who didn't even want to be there.

Its amazing how the Nets fans turn against Kidd after they trade him but when they had him they thought he was one of the best PGs in the league.

    From another board:

Kidd might make a terrific coach some day.

Nets fans started turning against Kidd during last summer. In December, after the "migrane" incident which reportedly immediately followed a refusal of the nets to extend his contract, and his yes-I-did no-I-didn't trade demand, many more Nets fans had finally had enough. Not to mention his most recent groping incident this past season. I think that, by January and early February, most Nets fans were ready to get rid of him.

In my opinion, Avery isn't even that good of a coach. His offense is all about isolations and nothing else. That's why they couldn't succeed. His system wasn't meant for the team he had. When you have Kidd, Dirk, Howard, Terry, etc., you should really try running a more up-tempo and free flowing offense, they didn't, and that's why they failed. They didn't play to the strengths of their players.

Also, him trying to make Dirk a post player is a joke. He needed to remove the leash and let Dirk take advantage of being able bring bigs on the perimeter.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Just hours after the New Orleans Hornets eliminated the Dallas Mavericks from the playoffs, Mavs' owner Mark Cuban has fired head coach Avery Johnson, ESPN Radio-Dallas reports.

Johnson, the 2006 NBA Coach of the Year, was let go after the team struggled to compete with the younger and less experienced Hornets in the first round of the postseason. In the final game of the series, the Hornets led the entire way and at one point were ahead by as much as 17 points before taking the series four games to one.

After Dallas struggled to secure a playoff seed in the tough Western Conference during the regular season, rumors started circulating that Johnson could be on the hot seat.</div>

Wow right after the game...that's harsh.

I wouldn't like him as the Hawks coach.

I still think he's a great player. But if he wasn't such a jackass in how he handled leaving, I'm sure a lot of us would feel different about him.

I dunno, but if it's true it's fairly ridiculous. The Mavs looked very much like the Heat did the year before. Old. Howard and Dirk and a bunch of extremely over the hill guys is only going to get you so far no matter who the coach is.

ESPN emailed me and told me to remove my story because it was inaccurate. Two hours later, they are reported the exact same thing on their website. WOW.
