I stole this idea from Chutney, but I'm just wondering what you guys think about the Eagle's draft? 2nd Round (47) - Trevor Laws, DT, Notre Dame 2nd Round (49) - DeSean Jackson, WR, California 3rd Round (80) - Bryan Smith, DE, McNeese State 4th Round (109) - Mike McGlynn, OL, Pittsburgh 4th Round (117) - Quintin Demps, S, Texas-El Paso 4th Round (131) - Jack Ikegwuonu, CB, Wisconsin 6th Round (184) - Mike Gibson, OL, California 6th Round (200) - Joe Mays, LB, North Dakota State 6th Round (203) - Andy Studebaker, LB, Wheaton 7th Round (230) - King Dunlap, OT, Auburn I like the fact that we traded down with Carolina, and that we will now have their 1st rounder next season (which I believe will be a high pick). I'm not really sure about the Trevor Laws being our first pick, I thought there were some better options out there. I do like Desean Jackson though. Our special teams was absolutely horrible last year and he will finally give us someone who can return kicks/punts. I'm not too sure about the Bryan Smith pick, because from what I've heard, he was a major reach. I like the Quintin Demps pick though, hopefully he'll learn a thing or two under Dawkins. And many were saying Jake Ikegwuonu could be the steal of the draft. He was supposed to be a top ranked corner this season before his injury. It's unfortunate that he will probably not play a single snap this year, but hopefully he'll show us something later on. Pretty average draft by the Eagles IMO. Thoughts?
DeShaun Jack - Cal Bear. Can't miss with that one. Other than that, where are the WR's? I would have grabbed at least 2 more.
Apparently Andy Reid and Co. didn't think there were any other good receivers available in the draft when we picked Not a surprise though. McNabb will just have to work with what he's got, like he always has
I've always been a fan of the Eagles' scouting and patience when it comes to draft day. In that respect, you really have to hand it to them for ripping the Panthers off so badly in the first round. I still don't understand how they got that done, but they deserve respect for that regardless. The Ikegwuonu pick seems to be considered good value if he can recover properly from his injury, so I'm willing to wait a couple of years before judging that one. I feel like I'm in the minority with the Jackson pick. He definitely improves Philly's special teams, which was piss poor last season. But they run that West Coast offense that requires a lot of slants and routes down the middle. I'm not sure, at his size and weight, if he's willing to run those routes consistently and if he'll be anything more than a sideline deep threat. They would've been better served with a taller, more physical receiver to complement the group they already have (Limas Sweed comes to mind).
