This is the last opportunity to trade a bum like RJ for Howard because Howard won't be playing for Avery Johnson next year.</div> <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ghoti @ Apr 30 2008, 08:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Who cares? Think there's a correlation between Devin getting traded and Josh's inconsistent play in the 2nd half of the season?

I'm just really disappointed in how he's handled himself and the way he let outside influences affect the way he plays. And J(o)-Ho didn't learn by causing that silly distraction. He handed out flyers for his birthday party in the locker room after Game 4, a crushing loss that all but ended the Mavs' season. Avery Johnson, who had a reasonable no-partying-during-the-playoffs rule, was livid when he learned about Howard and a few teammates living it up on the town. That's why he canceled what would have been the last practice during his Dallas tenure. "That's new news to me," Howard said this afternoon. J(o)-Ho mentioned that he'd already apologized for his radio appearance, but he didn't sound like a guy who regretted his actions. But he was a terrible teammate during this series. And he was awful on the court, too, but he seems to think his horrible shooting was just bad luck. "I couldn't make the shots that I've been making," Howard said, giggling at a question about how the Hornets defended him. "They went up and just hit the side of the rim or went in and out. That's exactly the opposite of the type of player I want Sean and Marcus around this offseason. The first trade with Chicago wasn't bad but I'd prefer subbing Sean for Josh due to the fact that Gooden is a PF who would eat up minutes stunting Sean's growth anyway...Boone is more of a center and therefore would still be useful to us. The Portland trade is overall the best trade though.

PORTLAND GETS: RJ MWILL 2nd round pick NJ GETS: MARTELL WEBSTER JARRET JACK TRAVIS OUTLAW JAMES JONES SERGIO RODRIGUEZ Portland gets help at 3, which they have always expressed needs help. Portland gets Marcus, a decent PG which I dont know if it will be a upgrade, but they said the need some help at the 1. Nets get Martell webster, can shoot but needs some better shot selection. Jarret Jack can be a spark for the Nets for scoring. Travis can develop into a future star, can also be a perimeter defender. James Jones is a proven 3pt shooter.

The thing about it is that you be a professional about it and keep things like that to yourself. The team doesn't need anymore drama and negative publicity that it already gets. That article shows Howard's character, which doesn't at all seem professional and just blaming his shot on "bad luck" sounds like a joke to me. It seems like he's too carefree, perhaps he's still on marijuana. I don't think you do anyone a favor by admitting you smoke marijuana and inviting people to his birthday party during pretty much the most high expectation stretch for his team. As a player, Howard seems too soft to me. Maintaining the softness that we have doesn't seem like the solution to me. I still believe we need RJ to be traded for a big man, draft a shooter, and move VC to SF. If Brand is unrealistic, than the AK47 + Millsap is the trade that intrigues me the most.
