Lots of stuff I'm hearing on the radio today says Kidd was sort of a last gasp effort to get new leadership because Avery had already been having problems getting the team to play hard for him.

Limited amount of time to play with Kidd or not, I think Kidd is just old and slow and not as good anymore as he was. Adding a couple of bench players isn't gonna turn back his odometer.

Still, I think you're right that this is what Dallas is going to do. It makes no sense for them to move Dirk and I doubt they could move Kidd if they wanted to. So maybe they could get somewhere by pulling a good trade of Terry, Stackhouse and/or Howard. But those guys don't exactly have a lot of value around the league at the moment, I'd guess. I could see them getting something decent for Howard, but I'm not sure what.

Yeah, I saw the Kidd thing as a last ditch effort. Watching them reminded me of when we knocked out Miami last year, and the Heat just looked done.

The Mavs can either retool or rebuild. Their guys don't have a lot of value though. Terry is just your typical above average player, and he is what, 30 now? Howard with the marijuana thing. Jason Kidd looked old, and is old at 35, has attitude problems, and is looking for a big extension. They really can't get much out of that trade wise. They'd be best suited keeping Howard in any such retool imo. What can they get for Jason Kidd? Maybe to Indiana for JO. Is Terry, Howard, Dirk, and JO enough to get you through the West? You also have to factor in that they'll have an inferior coach next year.

Its amazing how things got so bad so fast in Dallas.

I'd keep the #2 pick and pick Beasley or Rose.

Enough of this "Kidd is too old" crap. The guy almost averaged a triple double before the all-star break including 12 triple doubles. It's pretty obvious that he had problems with Avery's system. The "Kidd trade is a mistake" bandwagon is already too crowded. Hitch a ride somewhere else. Watch for Kidd to have a great comeback season. You can quote me on this.
