This doesn't make sense to me. How does one get fined for something like this? That's bullshit.

Oh well, at least he didn't get a tech or suspended. Otherwise you know people would be raising hell over this.

No, there isn't an excuse for what Paul did. He opened his mouth first in this series and Horford is correct. Don't write checks that your ass can't cash.

The NBA has a freaking dress code. Of course they are going to fine players that make menacing gestures.

Now here (taken from realgm/boston) are pics of people with the same sign in the nba. Were they fined? Are they in the gang?

You don't know that he said that, you don't even know what Horford said in game one, or during the season.

Again cpawfan, look at the video, look at how wild and angry Horford is, screaming at Paul (who is laying down), now don't tell me that you would have just walked away like nothing happened. Every person on earth would have gone after Horford, and thats just disrespect what he did.

Now if Paul was standing up and Horford did that, then thats another story, and I wouldn't back him up.

Context is an amazing thing and would be better to keep this discussion to the context of what happened instead of taking random pictures out of context.

Manacing: threatening or foreshadowing evil or tragic developments; "a baleful look"; "forbidding thunderclouds"; "his tone became menacing ...

"Blood, sweat and tears" was shown to Horford to simply remind him of his place in history. Paul was basically say, " I am not stepping down to your level, I have been here longer, and you will need to do more to be what I have already become." Putting Al in his place, and doing so without "Threatening" him.

I'm not into macho shit and trash talking.

Paul reaped what he sowed from his previous trash talk

In or out of context, it only takes one person with power to agree with you. If I were in that position of power to punish Paul, I would have not done that based on the evidence before us. This fine, if taken to a real court, would never hold up.

You don't have to be into macho shit to see that what Paul did was right. Its called respecting yourself and standing up to bullies, especially to one that is in his first year in the league, who is just a kid, who thinks is at the top of the world.

The Return of the Raider said it the best on post #27.

What bothers me the most is that if the league fines Paul, why not look at the rest of the video and fine Horford as well, for going berserk in front of Paul as he was laying down on the floor. He should have gotten a technical during the game, at least.

Did you keep a straight face when you typed that?

Paul is an emotional player that does more than his fair share of trash talking. I find it ludicrous that people expect "joe average" to believe Paul did something so composed.

I really don't understand what PP meant by his gesture. In terms of gang signs, I know what it means, but what was Paul implying?

BR pointed it out in his sig before this was put up, kinda cool. Those pictures CK, are just guys who probably just hit a 3? JR, probably just got an and 1. And the coach, c'mon. PP is from LA, his gang sign he put up (supposedly) is an LA blood gang.

There is a difference between talking trash and threatening someone. I understand that you don't like trash talking to be part of the game. I have seen a lot of NBA players who are both very good, and don't trash talk. I really do like some of those players. I also like some of the players that do. My take on this is, Paul's gesture should not have cost him money.
