I'm unsure about DeAndre. I mean his upside is ridiculous and he has all the ability and tools to be even BETTER than Dwight Howard. But out of the little I've seen from him I just don't see the drive and comitment that Howard had in Jordan. Dwight is a leader who wants to win, the team revolves around him, he loves doing the dirty work like rebounds, and he leaves it all out on the floor each and every night. I just don't see any of that in Jordan. I'm hoping I'm wrong b/c I really haven't seen very much from him but that's just what I see out of him so far.

Although really to say that its a gamble isn't exactly accurate. You can look at a prospect and see where they're at, skill wise. I get the superficial reasons that would cause someone to take a first glance at Jordan, but once you take a look at the player he is I don't see how you can think its a good idea to draft him that high. "But he could become really great, he could become like _______" Ask yourself how you came to that conclusion. What makes you think he could become some great basketball player? Because he's tall? please. Because he can dunk? ugh.

It's correct that you didn't say he was a good basketball player, but isn't that the point? Isn't that what you hope to draft with a top 10 pick? And who cares about physical measurements if they don't use them. It's just not worth the risk of wasting a high pick on this guy. Look at what he's done at Texas A&M, he didn't even start! He's currently a college prospect, not yet a genuine potential NBA player.

He has absolutely no timing on D, he blows defensive assignments, and if you watch him, even in the highlights, he's plain slow. It takes him years to get into the air. Howard gets up in half a second.
id take love over jordan im sorry... and doesnt even work hard? so hes satisfied with being medicore...
This is actually DeAndre's claim to fame...a KG-type putback of a miss...made possible by Jordan's defender boxing out his own teammate instead of DeAndre...lol <div><object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RGW0zoGGpvQ&"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RGW0zoGGpvQ&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350" /></embed></object></div>
Has a true "project center" EVER become a star? People throw around names like D Howard, Amare, Chandler, Bynum, etc but those guys were consensus top-5 prospects coming out of HS, not slow, uncoordinated, mistake-prone projects. No thanks.
Um...why are people still enamored with this guy? What's the deal? On one end, I'm seeing that we should stay away from him. On the other end, I'm seeing him being a top 5 pick. I am confused.
Well we were memorized by Sean Williams who was older and could only block shots so I see where the love is coming from.
I want a player that is at worst a solid rotation guy whose current upside is a solid starter. I don't want a guy who's upside is potential superstar and at worst not even in the league in 2 or 3 years. Those solid guys can always be combined and get you a superstar (like the Celtics did). I also wouldn't mind a team with all solid guys like the Pistons. Trying to hit homeruns with draft picks only puts you in a bad place when they don't work out. Can't trade them and you're left with nothing. DeAndre Jordan has way to much downside to risk the upside. And the Nets don't have that kind of freedom right now.
