    Take the shot

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>ATLANTA - The look on Ray Allen’s face was as pained as his numbers.

The Celtics guard was 1-for-8 in the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ 103-100 series-tieing, Game 6 loss to Atlanta, including a jumper off the side of the backboard and five misses in the last two minutes.

But his last miss, a deep 3-pointer with the Celtics trailing 100-98, was a shot he’ll take every time.

“I had a good look,” Allen said. “There was a big guy on me, his head was down, and I let it go.”

On going for a 3-pointer down by two, he added, “Whatever the defense allowed was what I was going to take. But I would take it again.”

The absence of Paul Pierce [stats], who fouled out with 4:44 left, necessitated more offense from Allen, though he denied he was trying to push the issue.

“I just go with the flow of the game,” he said. “I let the game decide what happens.”</div>

I too questioned what he did and at that point I would blame Doc for not being able to call a better play, I mean you're down 2 points, go for two and tie the game, and then its a new game once overtime starts.

    Oh well. [IMG]

in docs defense...the rule is go for the tie at home and the lead on the road...he didnt want to go into overtine, especially with pierce fouled out...if ray hits the shot we are all yelling about how much of a genious play it is so no blame should be put on doc for the play call...he got one of the best 3 pt shooters in nba history a clean look at a 3 to put us ahead...it was a great play...its on ray to hit it

I don't know how much blame you can put on the coach. He sets up where the player position themselves and options they can have, but at the end of the day he doesn't make the decisions for them. Allen made the choice for the 3 and he deserves to take the responsibility for it.

That 3 didn't even bother me, the last shot by Rondo did. With that amount of time, you don't have enough time to run a play so you can't even put the ball in Rondo's hands. Cassell or Allen should have taken the inbounds pass after Bibby's free throw. I would have felt a lot better with one of those guys taking the shot Rondo ended up taking.

I love Doc and have always defended him. But you have to blame him for not putting House (for example) in the game until the last few seconds. Whats up with that? One of the best Celtics shooters (arguably right after Allen) and he hasn't seen any playing time. I don't like his player rotation so far.

We'll see next round. (if we beat the hawks lol)

Oh yeah Thrilla, that was bad, anyone other than Rondo and Perk, I would have been fine with them taking the shot but I think they were scared to shoot. Who knows. [IMG]

I though Doc drew up an awful play, but at the press conference he said the play was for KG, Ray took the game into his own hands.

I don't think it was a bad decision (when Ray thinks he should shoot, he should shoot!), but it was a off-balance 3 point shot, with KG wide open down low. Oh well.

This is what really ticked me off, too.

We had no timeouts, so when Bibby missed the first shot, it should have come as second nature to the coach to take out the poorest 3 point shooter, ANTICIPATING that Bibby will make the second.

Doc doesn't do that, we get the ball into the hands of Rondo and CAN'T get one 3-point shooter OPEN?

Seven seconds is a long time, especially since Rondo touched the ball about 1/4 from our half of the court.

Yeah, they had all the time they need to make a better play, I couldn't believe when Rondo just shot the ball. lol
