<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>Buried in his weekly column is this suggestion by Dave D’Alessandro: “Andrea Bargnani and expiring contracts (Joey Graham, Jorge Garbajosa) for Richard Jefferson, who would be the perfect wing-walker for the point guard tandem in Toronto”. Dave thinks Bargnani is salvageable in spite of his disappointing second season. Hoopsworld agrees the Raps could use RJ. As for RJ? “If they traded me within the division,” he tells D’Alessandro. “I’d kill them four times a year”.</div>

If by "killing" us, he means "take too many shots and expend less energy on defense", then I can't wait.

Eww...Andrea? I'd rather keep RJ than trade him for A Dirk-wannabe.

No thanks. I'd rather just draft Dan G and keep RJ on this team.

Even RJ is talking about it. Does that tell you it's out of the question? Nope.

Here's why the Nets might do it: people want to "blow it up"? Well this would certainly qualify.

The team would gain 1) a versatile seven-footer who has disappointed but as a 22-year-old still has great potential; 2) a tough hombre who IF his leg injuries are resolved is not a bad guy to have on the bench; 3) a draft bust but would fill the Nets "twin gap" since he, like Jason Collins, has an identical twin; 4) cap space galore to help down the road with signing you-know-who; and 5) I personally would require the Raptors' first round pick in 2009.

It would also signal Nenad Krstic that he should look elsewhere and make the Nets one of the league's youngest teams...once Garbajosa and Graham are dealt with. And it would almost assure that the Nets won't bring three rookies into camp. They would either combine two of them to move up or trade one or use one on a Euro.

In Bargnani's defense (he has none of his own, of course), I would note that big guys and Euros take longer to develop and he is both. If you really believed he had the potential to be another Dirk Nowitzki, of course you would do it.

I would do this one. I bet Andres plays better D than Rj himself. Plus he is a deadly shooter for a 7 footer. IMO welcome aboard.
But i woud try to make the raps add a first round pick [IMG]

Now the number of Raptors game I catch is limited, but I don't think I've EVER seen Andrea play defense in each one.

Ive seen him play some games and his D is decent compared to RJs. He can move his feet reasonably quick for a big guy and Swat some shots. I would use him as a PF though.. Ala Krstic. He can shoot better than him... he has more endurance than him and plays better D. So its an upgrade in the PF spot.
If we actually do this trade then we should concentrate on A) Drafting a good SF with our first pick or B) Maybe trading some picks and players to Memphis for Mike Miller .

The key is to actually play him as a power forward/center. This team's trying to develop him in that direction, but he's still put out on the floor as a small forward (eg: positioning around the 3 pt. line). I still see a lot of talent and potential in him and I think he's progressed well in spite of certain things. I'd be annoyed if the Raptors traded him now, when his value is so low.

As for RJ, I just don't see him being that missing piece. And I don't even understand why the Raptors need to gamble it all for that "missing piece" in the first place. Our core is still in the early 20's and we've got significant cap space coming up in a year or so.

I wouldn't mind it but I'd like to acquire Kapono if we do trade RJ to Toronto.

I don't like the trade proposed by Dave D. Parker instead of Garbajosa. A first round pick has to be included and try to get Moon from them as well.
