I like this deal, if only because I have 0 faith in Sam Mitchell's ability to develop a young player. Not sure if Frank and the Nets are any different, but considering how much talent this kid might have, it seems like a pretty good "buy low" moment. I also would love to keep Garbo if he can stay healthy.
id do this trade, just for the fact that i think RJ is close to hitting his full potential... and its rare for a 7ft guy to be as mobile and be able to shoot the 3 ball...
thorn: bargnani, parker, graham, moon and a 2009 1st round pick colangelo: NO! thorn: bargnani, parker, graham, moon and a 2009 1st round pick colangelo: stay away from your drug dealer. thorn: bargnani, parker, graham, moon and a 2009 1st round pick colangelo: NO! thorn: bargnani, parker, graham, moon and a 2009 1st round pick colangelo: (thinking about rj running with tj/calderon and getting past the 1st rd...) uhmmm, OK... 2008-09 RJ - 22ppg on 42% shooting, 4TO pg but career highs in rebs/asts and leads the raps in FTA/gm which he shoots at 80% DO IT THORN!
Seriously... a player of RJ's caliber is all Toronto needs to complete it's lineup. A 1 - 2 punch of RJ and Bosh, coupled alongside Ford and Calderon would do wonders... Plus you do have a bench. Dont know if the Nets would consider what the Raps have to offer though
PG - Harris SG - Carter SF - Nachbar PF - Bargnani C - Boone I like the balance with the outside shooting which would allow Carter and Harris to keep driving but I think we can get better.
i dont like it simply for the fact that TO gets the better end of the deal. we cant let our opponents get better.

Without the pick it's more questionable but still something to be considered. Three rotation quality players on a team starved for quality depth is nothing to sneeze at.

After getting abused downlow we would downgrade with a glorified SF at the 4. If we thought Boki was ineffective guarding the 4, Bargnani won't be much better except for hitting the outside shot a bit more consistently than what we saw from Boki last year. Also who's our second scorer in that group? It goes without saying how important RJ's offensive progress was last year, but with that you've failed to replicate that while making our defense worse.
