We'll take Marcus if you take Maceo Baston.

I like this deal, if only because I have 0 faith in Sam Mitchell's ability to develop a young player. Not sure if Frank and the Nets are any different, but considering how much talent this kid might have, it seems like a pretty good "buy low" moment.

I also would love to keep Garbo if he can stay healthy.

id do this trade, just for the fact that i think RJ is close to hitting his full potential... and its rare for a 7ft guy to be as mobile and be able to shoot the 3 ball...

colangelo: (thinking about rj running with tj/calderon and getting past the 1st rd...) uhmmm, OK...

2008-09 RJ - 22ppg on 42% shooting, 4TO pg but career highs in rebs/asts and leads the raps in FTA/gm which he shoots at 80%

    DO IT THORN!

Seriously... a player of RJ's caliber is all Toronto needs to complete it's lineup. A 1 - 2 punch of RJ and Bosh, coupled alongside Ford and Calderon would do wonders... Plus you do have a bench.

Dont know if the Nets would consider what the Raps have to offer though

After this deal, can we complete a Devin for Darko trade?

    PG - Harris
    SG - Carter
    SF - Nachbar
    PF - Bargnani
    C - Boone

I like the balance with the outside shooting which would allow Carter and Harris to keep driving but I think we can get better.

i dont like it simply for the fact that TO gets the better end of the deal. we cant let our opponents get better.

but it will also enable us to get cap space to leapfrog the raps (especially in the summer of 2010) in terms of talent...all of the players involved are young players (except garbo or parker if included) with expiring contracts...so we get cheap young talent if they somehow develop but can dump them if they do not in another trade or just let them walk after a yr...counting stro's expiring contract, we'll have almost $20M in expiring contracts...

If the deal included Moon, Parker, Bargnani, and a pick, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Without the pick it's more questionable but still something to be considered. Three rotation quality players on a team starved for quality depth is nothing to sneeze at.

We could also use the Mavs and Toronto pic to trade for Mike Miller, or possibly move up.

I would honestly hang myself with my Nets jerseys if that happened. After getting abused downlow we would downgrade with a glorified SF at the 4. If we thought Boki was ineffective guarding the 4, Bargnani won't be much better except for hitting the outside shot a bit more consistently than what we saw from Boki last year. Also who's our second scorer in that group? It goes without saying how important RJ's offensive progress was last year, but with that you've failed to replicate that while making our defense worse.
