What do you guys think is wrong with Bynum's knee? It seems we're all capable of guessing (like the medical staff).

I'm preparing for the big blow...micro-fracture surgery. Brian, will you read me bed time stories if that's the case? (not as a gay thing..as a male bonding thing).

From what I've read, Bynum's injury is pretty much healed. You even said so yourself multiple times. I've read that he is fine physically, he can walk, walk, sprint, and jump, but he just can't do any basketball moves (I'll see if I can find the article/link if you want). I don't see any possibility that he would receive micro-fracture surgery. That is the worst case scenerio and I don't see it happening. He didn't have any torn ligaments, or torn cartilege, and his injury required no surgery. Now, unless the initial diagnosis was completely off, I just guess he's a very very slow healer. Honestly, I have no idea what's happening. We've heard so many contradicting reports about this injury, I'm not so sure anybody really knows what's going on. All I know is that he's going to see a specialist pretty soon, and we should get the full details sometimes this week. Until then, all we can do is pray and hope for the best.

As for the initial diagnosis, it wouldn't really be out of line if this medical staff DID give Bynum the wrong diagnosis, after all, they did the same to Karl Malone, and pretty much ended his career and ruined our chances to win the championship. My only problem with putting all the blame on the medical staff is that Bynum flew all the way to New York to see a specialist, and even then, the only reports we have heard was that his recovery was on track. So honestly I have no idea what's happening or going on, we just have to hope for the best. What are the chances of our medical staff AND a specialist misdiagnosing his injury? Pretty slim...

Well there is a new article out with Bynum saying he's frustrated because he can do everything else besides basketball activities--running, jumping, defensive slides.

Maybe he sprained one of his ligaments pretty bad?

Yeah, that could be possible. But again, like I said, I find it hard to believe how our medical staff AND a specialist dealing with these types of problems wouldn't be able to locate the sprain. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I just find it kind of hard to believe. We just have to wait until he finishes up this next checkup. If this new doctor he is seeing still cannot locate any problems, then this whole issue must be on Bynum's inability to heal as quickly as expected. Which raises some big questions for the future. Are you willing to shell out near max dollars to someone who seems to be an extremely slow healer?

Well don't get mad at me people, just look at the title of the thread.

The answer to your question Brian, is no. Until this very soft looking kid heals right, I don't want the Lakers giving him much more than the MLE. He looks completely fragile right now. We can also probably low ball him if he's still injured/recovering anyway.

Micro fracture surgery? I'm no doctor, but my understanding is that he needs to have cartilage damage to even consider such a possibility , and i dont believe i've ever heard about him having cartilage damage, only a bone bruise at this point and a dislocation that has been put back in place. If anything, he might need arthoscopic surgery like Kobe had to clean up the knee

What was the case with Oden? Did they know what was wrong before they did the exploratory knee surgery, which then led to the discover of him needing micro-fracture surgery?
