I just have a question about PS2 titles. Does anyone know what games can or cannot be played on a PS3? I know the PS3 has a function that allows you to play some PS2 titles, but not all. The reason I am asking this is because I am planning on getting one of those "next generation" systems sometime soon. I'm leaning towards the PS3 because my PS2 is kind of screwed up. I haven't really played much lately, so there are quite a few games I still have not finished, and I would like to play most of them on the new system I'm planning on emptying my bank for. Any help would be appreciated. I'm mainly asking about the GTA titles (Vice City and San Andreas), DMC, and the Final Fantasies. Are they playable?
I haven't ran into a PS2 game that dose not work on PS3. I know they said there were a few but I have a lot of PS2 games and haven't had a problem, one of the updates might have fixed the problems. The GTA games definitely work, I'm not sure about Final Fantasy. What is DMC?
DMC is the Devil May Cry series. The only reason why this is so important is because I haven't finished like half of my PS2 games, and my PS2 is basically toast. If these games can't work on a PS3, then I might as well go and get a 360 to play Halo. lol. Glad the GTA series works though
Btw, ZAE, are you sure the GTA games work? I've been Googling it up and apparently some people can't get it to work. Just curious, how many gigs is your PS3?

The 40 gig systems don't support PS2 games.... But either way you would be better suited getting a PS3 because it comes with the Bluray player.
http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/pl...php?p_faqid=232 http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus I've just checked out the Compatiblity of all three games you mentioned (FF, DMC, FF) and they either have "no problems" or "have been fixed since firmware 2.xx." Also, I checked out the 80 gig model (since the 60 is discontinued). I'm not sure if you can buy the 80 gig model, but it's coming back with a MGS bundle, so I'd look forward to that in about a month or so!
You can't find 80 or 60 GB consoles anymore, unless you're lucky because they're both discontinued. The 40 GB as mentioned does not play PS2 games, so you're screwed in that department. However, you'd be foolish to get a 360. I wanted one more at first, but the fact that three of four of my friends that have the damn thing had the red ring of death (one of which three times in one year) turned me off from getting one.
