I'm ecstatic right now, and big congrats to Kobe. Of all my years watching the Lakers play (I started playing ball in the late 90s so it's pretty recent, but I've followed Lakers ever since than), I'm glad our players can get it.

Now onto the quote: I'm asian and I'll tell you, that is our face....most of the time.

Because the voters will be influenced too much by the FINALS...not just the playoffs. Like Ric Bucher said, if anything, the NBA needs to institute a playoff MVP. I think the award season is fine.

the vote occurs at the end of the regular season, but the results aren't announced until after the finals. How hard is it?

Didn't know that's what you meant, I'm sorry.

I don't know about that, though. A lot of the fans get restless.

Chris Paul should have been MVP, he earned it. The lakers didn't start winning until Pau Gasol got there. Before that, kobe wanted to leave.

Lakers were killing before when Bynum was healthy too, you got your facts twisted.

To say Kobe didn't earn it, you're just being ridiculous.

Give the dude his props man, damn. Dude has been in the league this long and has finally won his 1st MVP. Chris Paul has been in the league 2 or 3 years and he even has ROY award, his time will come.

Honestly, thank god he won it this year and not previous years.

How wack would it have been if he won the MVP one of the past 3 years and after the ceremony Kobe had to go home and watch the rest of the playoffs on TV.

Now he can win his well-deserved award, and actually take part in Round 2 of the playoffs and even win a championship and Finals MVP.

Seriously, it was uber sweet for him to win it this year, this was HIS year, and I'm glad it turned out the way it did. Watching that press conference you can tell he was genuinely nervous and so happy at the same time.

    Congrats homie

What league have you been watching“ It sure aint the NBA and you sure have not been following the Lakers. They were somewhere close to 26-11 in the tough West Conference even before the arrival of Pau Gasol and were going to the playoffs with or without him.

Pau just made the Lakers championship contenders. Kobe earned it. With Kobe pushing the team to 9-1 during the final stretch with wins over the Hornets and Spurs to secure 1st seed in the West, he deserved it outright.

Watch the games before making comments like this. [IMG]

We were underdogs in both those series.

It's a regular season award, but even taking into account the post-season it's not nearly the same as a 67 win team losing in six games in the first round.

Dude you can't just talk out of your ass like that if you have no idea wtf is going on in this league..
I suggest getting more informed then making statements like that. If you keep going on like that your going to get made fun of everywhere you go. This is not the type of forums where you can make statements like that and not get called out on it most of people here actually watch and know about the game of basketball and the NBA lol....

    07-08 Hornets record: 56-25
Combined games missed by West, Chandler, Peja: 14

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Kobe Bryant is playing with dislocated pinky finger.

Kobe Bryant played without injured teammates Pau Gasol, Bynum, Mihm, and Ariza in most games this season.

Pau Gasol only played 26 games with the Lakers.
Bynum only played 35 games this season because of injury.

Kobe played all 82 games this season.

    =======================================================

Now if this same scenerio happened to Chris Paul which is did last year....

    06-07 Hornets record: 39-43
Combined games missed by West, Chandler, Peja: 108

See its not easy winning when your team is plagued by injury's not only that... Lakers still managed to get #1 spot in the west so give KOBE some credit he earned it..

PS: Lakers were #1 SEED when Bynum was healthy if I'm not mistaken... so booyaaa

I love how everytime someone mentions the MVP award to Kobe, he never talks about himself. He always congradulates his teammates and gives them all the props.
