Honestly, thank god he won it this year and not previous years. How wack would it have been if he won the MVP one of the past 3 years and after the ceremony Kobe had to go home and watch the rest of the playoffs on TV. Now he can win his well-deserved award, and actually take part in Round 2 of the playoffs and even win a championship and Finals MVP. Seriously, it was uber sweet for him to win it this year, this was HIS year, and I'm glad it turned out the way it did. Watching that press conference you can tell he was genuinely nervous and so happy at the same time. Congrats homie

They were somewhere close to 26-11 in the tough West Conference even before the arrival of Pau Gasol and were going to the playoffs with or without him. Pau just made the Lakers championship contenders. Kobe earned it. With Kobe pushing the team to 9-1 during the final stretch with wins over the Hornets and Spurs to secure 1st seed in the West, he deserved it outright. Watch the games before making comments like this.

It's a regular season award, but even taking into account the post-season it's not nearly the same as a 67 win team losing in six games in the first round.
