But to say he deserves it more than Kobe, is just pushing it. He's talking about how Paul's play in the playoffs proves that he should be MVP. What has been Kobe doing? Look at the stats. Paul and New Orleans had all the momentum coming into the playoffs, especially against a Dallas team in disarray. Their timing couldn't have been better. Kobe has carried this Laker team post Shaq. Sure he had help, like Paul hasn't had any? Paul had a great season, you can't take that away from him. But Kobe had an even greater season, and he has been doing so the last 3 or 4 years now. He deserves the MVP. He is the MVP.</div> This from a media person?? first off , the award is based on the regular season not the playoffs.. any monkey who follows the NBA would know this. secondly the media has to have their votes in at a specific date and I do believe it's before the playoffs begin or a few days into it. just another writer who had to come up with an story before deadline and overeached for it. It's a close call IMO, but neither pick was wrong. (except I though LeBron did more )
Regular season MVP requirements: High - team record - check Unbelievable stats - check Spectacular Playoff Performances - not included!!! (dumb*ss) The NBA, where stupid arguments happen LOL!!!

His actual regular season stats were 21.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 11.6 apg, 2.7 spg, 0.1 bpg in 37.6 mpg, 49% FG%, 37% 3 pt FG, 85% FT. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/chris_paul/ I would have leaned toward Paul personally. His team was one of the elite the entire season and dude averaged 11.6 fuggin apg. I fuggin HATE Chris Paul but I have no choice but to choose him after I've seen him utterly dominate all year. The Lakers were good the whole year but weren't up at the top of the west until they got Pau. Kobe isn't a bad choice, its certainly close between the two. Can't go wrong with either but if it was my vote I'd go Paul. </div> The Lakers were "elite" for a good majority of the season as well. Aside from the rough early start, the Lakers have been one of the top teams in the NBA this year all season.

Really now, the guy is averaging close to 35 a game. And like I said, he's been doing it for a at least 3 straight years now. Kobe, I believe, should already have 2 MVP awards. Paul is doing extremely well, but is this guy already Hall of Fame material? He has a long way to go. One great season doesn't qualify. A lot of players in the history of the NBA has had 1 or 2 spectacular seasons. But its does not translate to being one of the greats. Kobe is.
