<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Nuggets have made no indication that they will actively shop Carmelo Anthony, but they will listen to offers, according to the Denver Post. Because of his off the court problems and the luxury tax, Denver may be inclined to see what sort of package Anthony would yield.</div> http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...rs_for_carmelo/ Denver trades: Carmelo Anthony Nene New Jersey trades: Richard Jefferson Sean Williams Marcus Williams Trenton Hassell 10th overall pick Why for us? Carmelo is a 23 year old, 25 PPG scorer who has had his troubles but is still an All-Star. He could be the face of Brookyln rather than hoping for LeBron to leave Cleveland. We also take in Nene who has a large contract but Kiki seems to love him. Why for them? They get youth and a pick while starting JR Smith and gaining someone who can run the court with AI and JR.
I'm not a 'Melo fan. I was really surprised to hear how much Barkley called him out for being a ball stopper during their first round exit this past season as it's 100% the reason his team has problems becoming a great one. We don't need a star as much as we need players who can come in day in and day out, busting their butts, and actively try make the other guys around them better by embracing the team concept. Some may say Melo would help us by being the focus of the defense but i'm not particularly thrilled with his decision making abilities and that's putting it very politely.
When superstars get traded, the normal return involves a good young player, draft picks, and expiring contracts to provide cap room. Trade exceptions are nice too. It's a rare that a superstar is traded for a superstar. --Vince Carter for two first round picks, Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and Alonzo Mourning. --Kenyon Martin for three first round picks and a $10 million trade exception. --Jason Kidd and Chris Dudley for Stephon Marbury, Somaila Soumake, Johnny Newman and a trade exception. --Devin Harris, Trenton Hassell, Maurice Ager, Keith Van Horn, two first round picks, two trade exceptons and $3 million in cash for Kidd, Allen and Wright.
I love Melo and he will definately sell tickets but I'm remember someone on this site showed that his defense is so bad that the Nuggets do better when he's not even on the court. On NBA.com they have his EFF at +16.50 but maybe I'm looking at the wrong statistic. Somebody showed that his +/- thing was negative but I just can't find it. I guess I'm in favor of Melo now since I can't find anything saying he sucks? It's never gonna happen though so it doesn't matter.

DO IT THRON I heard a rumor (just a rumor) that Lebron might have come to SU if Carmelo stayed for another year. Anyways, Carmelo is alot better than most people think, and that Karl is just a retard who doesn't know how to use him. I'd love if we could get him, and I think he'd be able to gel with this team just fine. Especially if we use him in the post.
PG - Devin Harris SG - Vince Carter SF - Carmelo Anthony PF - Nene C - Josh Boone Damn nasty starting five. Add that with Krstic or Diop comming off the bench too.

Teams with star power loaded up at the wing positions always underachieve. Jordan aside (and even he had Rodman), is there a single great team in the history of basketball that didn't have an All-Star at either the 4 or the 5? You just can win with all your cap money tied up in three stars if none of them is a big man.

The current Jefferson that played this past season was almost a liability on defense.
