Also need to take in consideration that we may not be in Brooklyn then and therefore would give him no financial reason to sign with us as we would not be a big market team thus his contract escalators would not be activated... We also might not be under the cap given Carter will be commanding almost 20 million of our cap space at that time. The reality is that while there is a chance he could end up in a Nets uniform it's still not likely.
http://www.82games.com/0708/07DEN9D.HTM I wouldn't take him if nuggers were giving him away for free. He's one of the most overrated players that ever set foot on an NBA floor. A one dimensional idiot if there ever was one.

This is a 23-year-old All-Star who basically won an NCAA championship by himself and has been on winning (Western Conference) teams since entering the NBA. You can call him names if it makes you feel better, but his trade value will remain extremely high (which is exactly what Nuggets management would have to be to consider trading him).
I want to know all of you calling him overrated, based on being on the Nuggets. Is he overrated when he plays for TEAM USA? Is it the player or is it the team (Nuggets)?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (THE DADDY @ May 11 2008, 04:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I want to know all of you calling him overrated, based on being on the Nuggets. He can shoot over shorter, less athletic people. He still got exploited defensively and team USA gave up threes like no tomorrow. The big difference between Team USA and The Nuggets is that on Team USA he has 4 other superstars who can cover up a lot of his defensive short comings, rebound and distribute the ball for easy baskets.

Man, the international players must be REALLY short and unathletic. I would figure that about 90% of the players in the NBA can shoot over shorter, less athletic people. Why doesn't TEAM USA put one of those guys who can play better defense on the team, they OBVIOUSLY would be better than Melo, right? Blaming Melo for team defense has no validity, either. You make it sound like most other players in the NBA can score like Melo. He's a 24 year old who has averaged over 20 ppg every year of his 5 year career, and averaged over 25ppg his last 3 years in the league, while shooting over 46% for his career. Well, I guess ANYONE can do that by shooting over shorter, less athletic players. Would you take Michael Redd over Melo?
Also, how can you explain Melo leading his team to the NCAA championship? 4 other players who covered up his shortcomings?

I would love Melo. He's better than RJ at everything. and younger. Kiki was the guy who drafted him, I hope he goes hard after him again. Even if he has to take back Nene or KMart or Camby as well.

Melo is a great player, but he's certainly one dimensional and a little over-rated. He's an unbelievably gifted scorer and an adequate rebounder. The first time I ever saw him play he reminded me of a more athletic, better Glenn Robinson, and IMHO, that's exactly what he is. He's an excellent midrange shooter with terrific post skills. He's not a top tier superstar like James, Wade, or Bryant, but the Nets would easily become one of the best teams in the East if they were somehow able to acquire him.
Good luck trying to get him, Denver isn't shipping him out. I think that was just a feed the media some BS answer, so they stop asking.
