What if the Nets won the #1 pick?

Would you pick Beasley, an obvious solution to our front court problem?

Or would you pick Rose, and then try to trade Harris (and others) for a star bigman (ie. Brand) to end up with an elite PG AND PF?

If for no other reason, I'd take Rose simply because the hand-check rules are making quick PGs impossible to defend (Wade, Parker, Paul)

Rose because IMO Beasly has bust written all over him. But only time will tell.

I'd pick Rose. Beasley doesn't seem to be the big we need to win and then we could trade Harris or Rose for better talent.

You have to take the best player available, and that IMO is Rose. It would be downright hilarious to watch opposing teams try and guard a Harris/Rose backcourt in attack mode. Rose is the kinda player who'll make our current bigs better as well. No knock on Beasley but Rose is a stud and very much the kind of PG you can build a team around.

I'm gonna have to agree with KC and say Beasley is the BPA available.

It would be very lucky that the Nets traded for Devin Harris and then got the opportunity to take Beasley.

Tough to pass up on Rose, but I'd go Beasley.

That makes zero sense since best player available is subjective.

Rose got more of the national spotlight than Beasley did (in terms of making it farther into the NCAA tourney and having more press attention isolated on him), so I guess it's understandable why Rose is everyone's hot prospect right now, but lets not forget that Beasley put up numbers better than Kevin Durant. I mean look at these monster games he put up. Sheesh do I see multiple 40+ point, 15+ rebound games? A 30/20? Holy smokes.

Also, Claud, I have no idea how you could feel so strongly about him being a bust; part of me doesn't want to know.

If you take Rose, the best player you can dump in a trade is Marcus Williams. Nets would not trade Harris...no one would risk that.

If you take Beasley, you can make a lot more moves...gives you more opportunities to move pieces around the chess board.

Or you could trade down, get another pick or player, and take Brook Lopez. [IMG]

    Rose without hesitation.

I'd try and trade Harris for a good big man. Hell, i might entertain the idea of trading him for David Lee and the Knicks pick. Or sending him home for Yi and their pick. And there is always plan B... turn Harris into a SG and move VC to SF (if RJ gets traded). Plan C... just have Harris start this season with Rose off the bench or move Harris as a 6th man. 2 years from now, Rose will be among Paul and Deron as the elite PG's in the NBA; without question. Rose is the real deal

    Why not trade Harris?

Gives Rose the time to develop next season.

Could trade Harris, RJ and Swift to Portland for Travis Outlaw, Martell Webster, Jarret Jack, Channing Frye, Raef LaFrentz and their 2008 and 2010 first rounder

Really moot point as likely none of this would happen anyway.

Ya know, It might sound crazy but I do like the idea of them sharing a back court. I mean obviously it would make Harris available trade wise and Marcus would be gone to the first team with a slight interest but I think it could work. We went to a small lineup a buncha times this past season with Harris and Marcus sharing duties and the upgrade of Williams to Rose could actually make that work. Not to mention they both play defense so our bigs aren't constantly rotating to cover their man who's found yet another open lane. Frank would be in heaven.

Beasley would be great too don't get me wrong and would immediately solve all of our bigman issues but I really like the attitude and the amount of growth Rose has already shown in just this past season alone and would go with him based off that.
