How many people of the draft class, picked around 17, had GREAT years? They're rookies, man. It's like you had one good year with Horford and expect everyone to meet his production (given his role on his team).

he was taken 17 because of character issue, everybody hype him as a lottery type talent, and he failed to show it. Like I said I'm not calling him a bust, but he had a disappointing season, considering everyone was saying that about him.

Yes he did. He tied the Nets rookie record for blocks in a game with eight. The first game he started, against Shaq, he put up 22/8. He was a lottery pick for his defense, but showed the foundation for a previously unknown post and mid-range game. As for what people were saying about him? Well they were saying that he hadn't played a full season of basketball since high school, and was then expected to play 82 games. That's beyond just physical requirements, too; that also deals with the fact that this guy is being asked to perform at the highest level without having an extensive knowledge of organized basketball. So forget about him being on the verge of a bust. He was the 17th pick of the draft and met the expectations set for him. Don't confuse potential (what he could become) with expectation (what he could show his first year).

He wasn't even supposed to play this season and he worked his way into a veteran rotation. I'd say that's none to shabby off a year hiatus from organized ball. He was a steal at 17 from an athleticism standpoint but I defy you to find one quote from our organization going head over heels for him without it being quickly followed up by a "he still has alot to learn" type of comment.

Whoever this 'everybody' was that was saying these great things about Sean had probably only seen him a handful of times up to that point. He's potential personified and sometimes that takes time to fulfill.

He was one of the top 15 players in the draft, that's for sure. Top 15 players in the draft... don't you classify that as lottery-type talent? After all, the top 15 players are expected to get drafted in the lottery.
