The New York Daily News - 05/16 - 7:28 PM EST (AP Photo)Michael Strahan hopes to get $8 million from the Giants if he comes back to play next season, according to The New York Daily News.

The defensive end has yet to make a decision on whether or not he will return, although he admitted on Wednesday that he is close to making up his mind.

While Strahan is hoping for $8 million, he's has been told by a source that New York is willing to pay him as much as $6 million in 2008.</span>

Like I said in the other thread, he should retire and he probably wants to, but he is broke. His wife cleaned him out.
He definitely doesn't want to go to training camp, so he's just letting them know he won't be there. Not really much of a controversy.

I say pay the man, and bring those front 4 back for another year. It's all about the ring.

Hey if he wants to use a pre-text to take training camp off, more power to him.

I understand about waiting til after pre to "make" his decision, but I'm sure he could've just talk to the front office and came to agreement to just come on out and say he's playing and they could just let him sit out the pre....why all the secrecy? Just get it out in the open whether he's staying or going and get it all behind them?

I was talking to Troy Polamalu's (sp) uncle the other day in my job (he had pics to prove it, seemed genuine guy). He brought up a point about athlete's contracts that I never thought of. They are taxed on it and have to pay off their agents and reps and such. He was telling me that a 10 million contract ends up being about 3.5 million after everything is paid off and taxes are collected.

I can understand why Mike wants 8 million.

Well at least if he does this he has a longshot at getting more cash.

Damn, that's a trip. In a none sports relation to this (lol...don't laugh). I was watching a story on TLC and Left-eye was talking about the 2.6 million they made, on a tour I think, and she talked about after the fees and taxes the three girls only got about 300,000 each of the 2.6 mil! That's f*cked up! Between three girls, less than a mil to split.....of more than two and a half mil?!?

Going back to Mike, they should just give him the 8, for all he's done for the teams rep, being a positive guy on thier team and playing at the level he has. I think he deserves at least that

Yeah, like I was telling Mamba. They should just give him the 8 instead of the 6 they offered and get it over with

They should give him the very least that he will accept and not a penny more.

    Just like last year.
