In another indication, the Nets will have a hard time resigning DeSagana Diop, HoopsWorld reports the seven-footer has told them he “would love nothing better than to return to Dallas”. In article on the Mavs’ next move, Bill Ingram says the Mavericks are “considered the favorites to retain the services” of Diop, noting the Mavs were “never the same defensively” after he and Devin Harris left in the Jason Kidd trade.</p>

This is better for us if Diop is the only FA they sign, our draft pick is going to be high in two years.

Same here, I wasn't convinced he was a longterm keeper either when the trade went down. We have to get something for him though via sign and trade even if it's just a trade exemption. We can't let our assets walk out the door for nothing at this point.

    Why not?
He is a defense-first type of coach(at least he was when the Pacers were good)

rick also said he will build the offense around the strengths of jason kidd (but maybe he was just making himself look good to his employer, who had just invested $20M next year on jkidd) which will call for faster players who will run with kidd...

Would be a decent pick up for the Mavs for about 3 million of the MLE over 3 years. Most of Mavs major moves will be done via trade, bigger names being thrown around is Artest, Redd, Maggette, and Mike Miller.

Work out a S&T and they can have him!

He's a good shot blocker who has no offense and is an average rebounder for his size. Plus, assuming Nets decide to go after a big man again (Love for ex), I want playing time to goto the rookie with potential and not Diop.

Agreed. I mean, he's pretty good defensively, but I can see Josh Boone surpassing him either this upcoming season or the next. If not, he's easily replaceable.
