Excellent ideas guys. I really believe in our youth and I think if we try to build upon that youth we could win. We need %'s on our side and guys to be capable of the intangibles that win games such as being able to draw in multiple defenders and hitting highly contested shots. I believe in Ellis to do those things, but we need another. Possibly Marco could step into that role if you believe in the power of finesse players with great athleticism. Biedrins/Wright are talented big players who can rebound and pass, but need to be developed more as part of a team offense. Then we got Sjax who is the ultimate championship type x-factor role player who comes at a bargain. How he makes less than Harrington is beyond me because at least Sjax can shoot free throws, play D, and pass. I believe if we kept Baron, Ellis will be held back slightly. The problem is who makes the decision about whether Ellis is ready to take over point guard? What if he takes care of the ball and passes worse than Marcus Banks? I guess we would really have to force the team to play differently in the event teams start pressuring the heck out of Ellis. We would need another guard who can punish double teams and come to the ball whenever help is needed. Not sure if Marco can do it, but he sounds promising with his skills. I would like to see what teams think of Chris Douglas Roberts because he might be a guy to draft if we want a one-on-one guy who can go inside a lot more and has defensive potential. The other side of me thinks, what happens if Biedrins is really better at PF? Should we go after a center prospect like Kosta Koufos (despite his slowness and our team being drafted for quickness at size positions)? Can we sign and trade Baron for draft picks? Also, let's say if Sjax is somehow in trouble again or age is really hitting him. Would it be a good time now to draft a small forward? There's quite a few that are very intresting: Danilo Gallinari, Joe Alexander, Anthony Randolph, Nicholas Batum, etc. The foreign players sound really, really interesting. A lot of the small forwards might plug in perfectly with this roster: pg: Monta Ellis sg: Marco Belinelli sf: pf: Brandan Wright c: Biedrins It's a light weight roster, but these guys are fast or athletic with playmaking, shot creation ability. In that case probably wouldn't want Joe Alexander who probably looks more like a power forward with a midrange game (He's a Gerald Wallace/Shawn Marion highlight reel). Danilo Gallinari looks pretty good, but might remind some of Mike Dunleavy Jr. type problems (too big for small forward, too weak for power forward). Anthony Randolph, you wonder about his shooting, but he has lots of skills. Nicholas Batum was inconsistent, but probably has the best potential out of a lot of small forwards because he played very high level basketball at a young age and he's got great physical tools to be a good offense and defensive player. This is why I think Baron might be a risk, because if we commit to his asking price for lots of years, we may lose a lot of talent that might already fit better with this team. I think as long as we keep focussed in drafting players that are multi-talented, won't break the bank, and can fit in with the tempo we want to play, we'll be really good for lots of years.
