"Having a scope either tues or wed. from what i have heard."

This was reported by Gumby on CL. Bynum will be having arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday or Wednesday. Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up. Better get it done now than later

They've already waited to long. This should've been done a long time ago.

    Seems very unprofessional.

Hope the Lakers prepare for the worst with this kid, good luck to him though.

This probably should have been done a long time ago when the knee wasn't progressing the way they felt it should. Oh well, it's just arthroscopic surgery, which if I'm correct, is what Kobe had a couple years back. It's not going to keep him sidelined too long during the summer, only 6 weeks or so. Note that this is NOT what Amare had.

I hope Bynum recovers well. He should be ready to go for training camp next season.

When he comes back, the Lakers will be full of bigs/rebounders, I was thinking the Lakers might move one. Odom has a sizable contract, with only two years left, and I was thinking the Lakers could use a nice defensive minded wing player to shut down the Ginobili's, Hamilton's, and Davis's.

What do you guys think of trading Odom for Battier + Bobby Jackson ($6 million expiring contract)

Battier has a high bball IQ, knocks down open 3's, is a smart defender, and does all the intangibles you need to win. I think every championship team needs a high energy guy in their starting 5.

    Bynum/Turiaf
    Gasol/Radmanovic
    Battier/Walton
    Kobe/Sasha
    Farmar/Fisher

    Kobe -1st option
    Gasol -2nd option
    Bynum -3rd option
    Battier -4th option

I like Battier but I'd rather hold onto Odom. Battier would be a nice complimentary player to Kobe/Gasol/Bynum, but so would Odom. The only advantage I see with Battier would be his defense, but we have Trevor Ariza for that department. Plus, a Yao/McGrady/Odom trio is much more dangerous than a Yao/McGrady/Battier trio, so I'd pass

    Kobe -1st option
    Gasol -2nd option
    Bynum -3rd option
    Odom -4th option

    Seems good to me

I agree, Odom would be a great 4th option if he defers to Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum.

But Battier would space the floor better. I think teams will clog up the lane with Bynum, Gasol, and Odom in the game.

Ariza is a good slasher, but he's no Battier. Every championship team has had a Battier type high energy, defensive minded player.

    Spurs - Bowen
    Heat- Haslem
    Pistons- Prince
    Lakers - Fox
    Bulls - Pippen
    Rockets - Maxwell

This would benefit the Rockets as well, because they need a third scorer.

Well it's not required to win a championship. We can get by with a healthy Trevor Ariza. As for Shane, like I said, I wouldn't mind him on this roster, but not at the expense of making the Houston Rockets a better team. A Yao/McGrady/Odom trio is deadly. Shane wouldn't really be that big of a upgrade for us, but Odom will make the Rockets a whole lot better, and that's not something we'd be willing to do

I do believe this trade would definately make the Lakers better. With Bynum, and Gasol crashing the boards they are set. Battier and Kobe are also good rebounders.

Odom would help the Rockets on the boards, but he would need to fit in Adelman's offense. If he does, I would expect to see these 2 teams in the 09 WCF.

I would actually consider Odom for Battier. Our defense with Bynum, Battier, and Kobe would be absolutely deadly.

    I wouldn't because I don't trust Bynum's health in the future.

He could come back 100% and not suffer another freak injury, but the nagging little stuff could take its toll. Odom is insurance (plays better at PF).

It wasn't even Bynum's fault, the injury. The injury was because of Odom. He had a knee injury in HS, but that was nothing, really. He had a healthy career up until that freak accident caused by Odom. I'll take Battier's defense and ability to knock down the three over Odom.

And Brian's right, I might have said no, yesterday :-).

Ask me again after game 2.

I respect Battier's defense of course, and I will indeed ask you later. [IMG]

Battier has a very reasonable contract too. Especially if Odom asks for more than he is worth.

lol, I was hoping Odom would resign for what he's really worth. Something like 5 years $40 million. Daryl Morey, GM of the Rockets, is all about money ball players. He would probably get Odom to sign a reasonable extention before the trade.

I remember when a lot of Laker fans wanted Odom shipped off and probably would have traded him for Ricky Davis lol.

If Odom doesn't settle for $8-10 million/year, I'd definitely think about that trade. We've got to resign Bynum, extend Kobe, and eventually do something with Gasol. Odom is going to be a very valuable expiring contract next year. We can't afford to give him top $$$ cash.
