Now that I thought about it, I'd rather trade Lamar for Mike Miller. His 16 million expiring contract next season should attract a rebuilding team like Memphis, although I'm not really sure if they'd be willing to deal with us again after the outlash they received for the Gasol trade.

Well the first reported trade that was being talked about was Critter, Odom, Kwame, Gasol, and Picks for Gasol and Miller.

I wouldn't be surprised if we re-opened those talks next year if it starts to look like Odom won't re-sign for a decent amount of money.

I really think people are over looking what Lamar has down for us at the 4. I just don't see any of these other players doing that.

We already have decent depth at SF, we shouldn't put all our hopes in Bynum. The kid has a very bright future but there's simply no reason to take that kind of risk.

I never said I wanted us to trade Lamar. Like I said before, I wouldn't trade him for Battier. But nobody knows the type of money he will demand when his contract expires. I would love to have him around in the long term, but I don't know if it's possible. If it isn't, I would more than happy to deal him for Miller.

We are talking about the Lakers, I wouldn't be too caught up with his demands. I doubt he'll ask for more than 15 million a year at his most arrogant moment.

I would dump his contract if he asked for more than $9.5 milion.

Memphis wants young guys and expiring contracts for Miller. They wanted Scola for Miller. They wouldn't let Miller go for an expiring contract, especially now. They might do this trade if Odom signed for $5 million.

I really want to see a healthy NBA next season.

Word. For both teams. It seems like the Lakers and Rockets have really struggled with injuries for the past couple of seasons. A healthy duo of Yao and McGrady, plus guys like Battier and Scola will compete for a top seed in the west in my opinion. We have yet to really see these two play together for a whole season without extended injuries. As for the Lakers, well, seeing how far we've gone this year without our second, now third best player in Andrew Bynum is just scary. Both teams should pray for good health next year. If healthy, I think we will end up seeing a Lakers/Hornets/Rockets battle for the #1 seed in the west.

I'm naive, I want the core to stick together (including Odom, I don't know how though, I'll cross my fingers).

What we have to work on is our PG depth (love Fish, but Farmar is too inconsistent and hopefully he proves me wrong), and some other role players.

    Buy low, sell high.

Doesn't look like this trade is happening with that performance in the WCF.

A year ago I would deal Odom for Battier in a heartbeat, but right now I wouldn't change anything with the Lakers. They have amazing chemistry right now and I wouldn't want to disrupt that at all. Dr. Buss already said he'll pay luxury tax to win titles.

Odom almost can't be denied right now. I don't want Battier either, and that's because of how Odom is clicking.

Exactly, why mess with a great thing? We just need to enjoy what the Lakers are currently doing and not worry about changes for next season. It took 3 years for this team to finally come together and I don't want to have to go through another shakeup.

I also liked the confidence Kobe had in his post game comments about Odom. He said Odom is finally mentally ready to become a superstar in the league.

superstar? I definitely think he's allstar material with the right people around him, especially if he was a 1st option like he was on Miami in his final year. But I don't think even if he was a #1 option on Miami with a good cast that he could become a superstar.
